Overview

The Quality Engineer is responsible for compliance within the QMS and ISO – analyzing defects or products, determining the causes of those defects, and providing solutions. The Quality Engineer will maintain the complaint, nonconformity, and corrective action procedures using records and tracking systems, including root-cause analysis. The Quality Engineer will determine quality improvement factors, implement methods to inspect, test, and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes and equipment, and prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.

The Quality Engineer will communicate with customers as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for overall quality performance and compliance of suppliers

Lead supplier improvement and supplier development activities to ensure suppliers have excellent measurement system capability, process capability, and process controls

Issue supplier audit reports and follow up on supplier actions to satisfactory completion

Provide leadership in the investigation of customer component performance issues, including corrective and preventive actions and driving continuous improvements

Support product or component qualification through partnering with our internal and external stakeholders to implement APQP and a PPAP process

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to address supplier and customer quality issues while implementing corrective actions in a timely manner

Provide and promote PPAP guidelines, supporting and collaborating with plants and cross-functional teams to facilitate standardization of PPAP execution

Review, challenge, and simplify existing, develop, and apply quality-driven test systems and procedures to assure products meet intended use and customer expectations

Provide technical and quality expertise to support key programs focusing on risk mitigation (PFMEA, Control Plan, and Inspection Standards)

Apply Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) into program management methodology for effective product/process releases

Qualifications:

BS in Engineering

5 years of experience in the automotive industry

ISO/IATF experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate technical information with others both internal and external to the organization

Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on electronics and mechanical assembly operations

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, prints, and specifications

Proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel, and Power Point

Working knowledge of statistical analysis tools with a focus on measurement systems capability, measurement system analysis, process capability, and process control

Resourceful and independent

Ability and willingness to travel, including international travel

Highly motivated team contributor, sets a higher bar of achievement for self and others, works outside of functional boundaries for the betterment of the company
