This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a “U.S. person” as defined in the ITAR and EAR (which generally means (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, as specified under applicable law.

Main Functions

The QA Technician plays a key role in both Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) by performing hands-on inspections and testing while also contributing to process improvements, documentation, and problem-solving efforts. Ensures that products meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements through inspections, audits, and data analysis.

Supports root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reliability. Collaborates with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and drive process improvements. Manages quality documentation, including shipment data packages, inspection reports, and non-conformance records to maintain compliance with industry standards.

Typical Duties

Perform mechanical and electrical testing on electronic products, including PCBs, flex cables, SMT, and electromechanical assemblies.
Develop and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
Design inspection plans and perform root cause analysis using problem-solving techniques to identify areas for improvement.
Create and maintain shipment data packages per PO requirements, ensuring all necessary quality documentation is included.
Lead or support the CAPA process by conducting investigations, coordinating cross-functional reviews, and verifying effectiveness of corrective actions.
Serve as an internal liaison across Quality, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams, ensuring alignment on quality standards, process improvements, and issue resolution.
Assist in preparing technical reports such as PPAP, Cpk analysis, and First Article Reports.
Support quality improvement initiatives, compliance with industry standards, and process optimizations.
Testing & Inspection: Perform mechanical and electrical testing on electronic assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
FAIR Development: Prepare and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102.
Final Inspection & Shipment Documentation: Verify final product compliance and prepare shipment data packages as per PO requirements.
Non-Conformance Reporting (NCRs): Identify, document, and track non-conformances through resolution.
Root Cause Analysis: Apply problem-solving tools (5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, etc.) to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
Analyze and report findings of customer returns (RMA) and internal non-conformance reports (NCR).
CAPA Process: Issue, follow up, and verify corrective and preventive actions.
Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety requirements and maintain good housekeeping in work and public areas.

Required Skills

Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace (AS9100), medical (ISO 13485/cGMP), or automotive (IATF 16949) required.
Familiarity with industry-specific standards:
J-STD-001 (Soldering Standards for Electronic Assemblies)
IPC-A-600 (Acceptability of Printed Circuit Boards)
IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies for PCBs and SMT)

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

Inspection & Testing: Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
Computer Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
Problem-Solving & Analysis: Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis and process improvements.
Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills to document findings and interact with cross-functional teams.
Work Ethic: Strong initiative, high energy, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

Certifications: IPC Certifications (J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620) preferred.
Quality Tools: Knowledge of SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience using statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or SPC software for process monitoring and improvement.
ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or higher.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree in a technical field (Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing-related field), preferred.

Experience Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance/quality control in manufacturing.
Be familiar with ISO 9001, AS9100 or ISO 13485 Standards

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods as required by job tasks.
Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 20 lbs.
Must work in an ESD-controlled environment and adhere to proper electrostatic discharge (ESD) handling procedures for sensitive electronic components.
