Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI)

Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 10-15%

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Assist with development and improvement of quality standards, procedures and work instructions. Review processes and products to assure they conform to applicable quality standards and work instructions. Train and coach other employees on proper work methods and promote understanding of quality standards. Complete and provide data and reports to management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

More specifically, the employee owner will:

Knowledge of the current weld process as well as assist in the weld training and certification of new employees and recertification of existing employees.
Assist manufacturing with implementation and compliance to company quality standards, procedures and work instructions.
Audit product and processes to assure compliance to standard work. Coach and train employees on proper work methods and promote understanding of quality standards.
Work with management to evaluate and troubleshoot problems causing quality related defects. Assist with corrective action teams to resolve identified problems.
Read and understand engineering print specifications and tolerances.
Evaluate compliance of finished products to applicable specifications and tolerances. Compile data and complete special inspection reports per customer qualification requirements (ITP, PPAP, etc.).
Evaluate returned goods and complete analysis reports (RGA) in a timely manner.
Assist with selection, tracking and calibration of gages and measuring equipment. Assist with development and implementation of new and revised measurement systems.
Use advanced measurement devices to provide data for manufacturing and engineering when required.
Maintain accurate data and records in correct file locations and databases. Provide necessary reports to supervisors and management.
Create, review and update work instructions, procedures, and other quality documents.
Use proficient computer skills employing Microsoft Word, Excel, and be able to learn other special software as required to complete assigned responsibilities.
Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping.
Regularly participate in additional training related to the job.
Perform assignments in other production areas and related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Demonstrate regular, consistent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in production and/or manufacturing or as a QA technician preferred
Demonstrated ability to participate in a positive and engaged team atmosphere
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Must be able to read, write, and speak English to properly understand and relay important safety and quality information
Capable of working well with others and maintaining excellent interdepartmental relationships
Readily accepts instruction from management and supervisors and executes effectively
Must be able to take initiative and work independently at times
Needs to be reliable and open to a flexible schedule
Strong computer comprehension capabilities, including Word, Excel, and various quality system applications

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS

One-year certificate from a college or technical school; or
Two-years related experience and/or training; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience.

TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES

Fork lift license.
Gage calibration and internal auditing certifications.
Training in the following subjects is desired: CNC Machining, Welding, Print Reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances, Statistics, Statistical Process Control, CMM Technology

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to balance, climb, crawl, lift and /or move more than 100 pounds with a lift table and hoist available, repetitively use right and left hand for firm/heavy grasping, and repetitively use right and left hand for fine dexterity. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with a lift table and hoist available. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, hear, talk, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and repetitively uses right and left hands for simple/light grasping. Specific vision abilities required by; this job includes close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear customers and instructions from others.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, work with flammable materials, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level while in the office is moderate and is usually loud when in the plant.
