Job Summary:
Responsible for inspecting, testing, sampling, and sorting products or goods based upon quantity, technical requirements, and marking standards required by the customer.
Key Responsibilities:
Review protocols, qualifications, and validation procedures documented by the organization
Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications for requirements and dimensional tolerance, including GD&T
Audit and monitor quality requirements
Performs detailed inspections (physical and virtual) in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications through proficient use of:
Visual inspection
Documentation review
Various gaging methods (Caliper, Radius Gauges, Micrometers, etc.)
Review certifications, test reports, and other quality documents to evaluate conformance to requirements.
Investigate non-conformance issues or discrepant materials and assists in resolving issues to ensure final inspection clearance (e.g. simple cosmetic rework such as part marking or paint touchup, etc.)
Create supplier Corrective Action Requests (CARs) to initiate root cause / corrective action investigations at suppliers
Verify goods comply with company and/or federally regulated protocols
Complete inspection reports and findings for proper documentation and correction
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. suppliers) to resolve issues
Ensure gauge calibration schedule is maintained
Perform other duties and specific projects as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
Education
High School Diploma / GED
Work experience
5 years of related experience in inspection of complex machined parts including use of special processes (plating, painting, coatings, heat treating, etc.)
Familiarity with ISO9001
Job specific attributes/skills
Ability to read and understand blueprints, including GD&T
Ability to proficiently use inspection gages
Experience with tooling design (both machine fixtures and inspection gages) a plus
Computer knowledge – Microsoft Office Suite
