Summary
Evaluate quality processes, procedures, and statistical techniques; analyze production and service limitations; recommend revisions of specifications; assist in formulating quality policies; interface with engineering, customers, and suppliers on quality issues; review customer quotes and contracts; ensure product quality; and mentor less-experienced engineers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and review quality plans, recommend process improvements, and approve changes to specifications and procedures.
Review material certifications, test reports, and inspection reports; focus on training QEs and process improvement.
Interact daily with Engineering to resolve product quality issues.
Ensure proper flow down of Customer Quality Requirements to suppliers.
Serve on the Material Review Board and participate in continuous improvement projects.
Conduct failure investigations, issue corrective and preventative actions, and handle customer complaints.
Review and approve drawings per ANSI/ASME standards; train QEs in these areas.
Act as liaison among various departments to ensure product conformance and customer satisfaction.
Coordinate customer and government source inspections.
Support internal and external audits; document and follow up on corrective actions.
Assist in maintaining and improving the Quality Engineering Training program.
Qualifications
Experience with government contracts, ISO 9001:2000, AS9100B:2004; knowledge of inspection methods; strong communication skills; proficiency in MS Office; ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with at least 10 years of aerospace quality assurance experience or equivalent.
Skills
Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work primarily in an office environment with occasional production area visits.
