Multilink Position: Quality Inspection Manager
This position leads, educates, promotes, and implements a quality-oriented environment aimed at continuous improvement and proactively plans and manages the daily quality function and programing. The position interacts regularly with internal teams at all levels and should be proficient in training, coaching and managing hourly inspection team members.
A successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Quality and Compliance Manager in regards to scheduling, time management, hiring, onboarding, training, developing and performance or incident management of the assigned team members.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Assists in maintenance of the site QMS including the necessary documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements and internal standards.
- Oversees internal audit program and checklist methods to ensure compliance of procedures.
- Performs audits and provides feedback, training and support in implementation of efforts.
- Compiles, analyzes and presents quality issues to Quality Manager, may assist with Management Review Process.
- Serves as assistant process owner for all policies and procedures that directly relate to quality, continuous improvement and failure management.
- Supports all process owners in developing and implementing the necessary standards and procedures in the respective areas.
- Ensures quality manuals, procedures, auditing system, employee training, etc. are in place to support ISO.
- Participates in third-party (external) audits for management system certification.
- Completes regular quality reporting on root cause analysis and corrective actions following lean principles.
- Manages direct reports including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, attendance and performance management, employee concerns, etc.
- Supports the organization in developing and implementing of quality concepts and standards for new products, changes on existing products and product realization.
- Promotes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to company policies, process, and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Education and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED may be required. Degree in engineering, manufacturing systems, or related preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a quality lead or supervisor in a sheet metal manufacturing environment
- Experience managing hourly quality inspection employees, preferably in multiple locations
- Proven experience managing an ISO 9001 certified quality system
- Proven experience in coaching in an organization within all hierarchy levels
- Six Sigma Certification strongly preferred
- Knowledge and experience OSHA regulations, certification a strong plus
- Strong leadership and management experience with the ability to lead, motivate and influence others to attain objectives
