TalentLogistiX is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Quality Inspection Supervisor to join a leading automotive manufacturing facility in Portland, IN & Berne, IN. This position will oversee the daily quality inspection operations on 2nd shift, providing leadership and direction to inspection personnel while ensuring manufactured components meet established quality standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a manufacturing quality environment and strong leadership skills. This individual should be comfortable managing a team, monitoring inspection activities, addressing quality concerns, and working closely with production and management to maintain consistent quality and productivity.

2nd Shift Quality Inspection Supervisor Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily quality inspection activities during 2nd shift.
- Lead, support, and provide direction to quality inspection team members.
- Assign work and monitor team productivity, accuracy, and attendance.
- Perform and oversee quality inspections of manufactured automotive components.
- Perform hardness testing and accurately document inspection results.
- Inspect components using microscopes to identify defects, irregularities, and other quality concerns.
- Cross-cut components using saw equipment for inspection and analysis.
- Measure components using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Review inspection results and ensure measurements and findings are properly documented.
- Identify nonconforming materials or components and communicate quality concerns to production and management.
- Assist with investigating quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure inspection procedures and work instructions are followed consistently.
- Train, coach, and develop inspection team members on quality procedures, inspection methods, and equipment.
- Monitor employee performance and address issues appropriately.
- Maintain accurate quality records, inspection documentation, and shift reports.
- Communicate shift activities, quality concerns, production issues, and outstanding items to management and other shifts.
- Work closely with production leadership to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Ensure inspection equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
2nd Shift Quality Inspection Supervisor Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing quality inspection required.
- Previous supervisory, team lead, or leadership experience preferred.
- Automotive or industrial manufacturing experience highly preferred.
- Experience training, coaching, and directing quality inspection personnel.
- Hands-on experience with hardness testing, microscopes, and precision measuring equipment highly desirable.
- Experience using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other inspection tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Ability to accurately interpret measurements, specifications, and inspection results.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify quality concerns and make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to maintain accurate quality documentation and reports.
- Ability to effectively communicate with production, quality, and management teams.
- Ability to work independently while managing and supporting a team.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English to follow safety procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Must be willing and able to work 2nd shift and successfully.
