Job Summary:

The Quality Inspector will verify the quality of electronic assemblies on printed circuit boards (PCBs) by performing visual inspections using microscopes. Responsibilities include identifying defects such as incorrect component placement, solder joint issues, missing parts, documenting findings, completing required paperwork, performing minor repairs, and maintaining a clean work area to ensure all products meet industry standards and customer expectations.

This is a Full-Time, in-office position offering competitive salary, benefits, and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspect SMT components and assemblies for defects using microscopes.
  • Verify that components are correctly placed, soldered, and meet industry standards, along with reviewing first piece/first article inspections and in-process inspections.
  • Complete required paperwork for inspections and rejected materials, record inspection rules, and maintain accurate quality control records.
  • Perform minor hand soldering repairs or other rework to correct identified defects on PCBs.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other co-workers, suppliers, or customers regarding quality issues and defect identification.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to established procedures, manufacturing process instructions, and quality guidelines.

Qualifications:

· A strong eye for detail, identifying subtle defects with the micro-electronics components and solder joints.

· Proficiency in using inspection equipment, ability to read and comprehend drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.

· Strong hand-eye coordination.

· Ability to work under a microscope for long periods of time.

· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of defects and contribute to process improvements.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills for documentation, reporting issues, providing feedback, and team collaboration.

· Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment, specifically with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and quality control processes.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

· 2 years of electronic assembly experience, ideally with SMT

· ICP Certification, such as IPC-A-610, which outlines quality standards for electronic assemblies.

· Working knowledge with ability to apply standards J-STD-001 with space addendum and MIL-STD-883.

· Practical experience in the electronics manufacturing environment.

· Experience with RF Microwave contract manufacturing operations.

· Knowledge of ISO quality standards, DFARS, CMMC, ITAR, and other mandated compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements:

The Quality Inspector is expected to perform the following physical requirements daily for up to 8 to 10 hours:

· Stationary Position: The ability to remain in a seated or standing position for extended periods, usually at a workstation in an ISO clean room.

· Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, or manipulate small components such as microchips, microscopes, and soldering materials while wearing PPE.

· Communication: Clear speaking and active listening abilities are essential for productivity, face to face communication, and safety.

· Vision Requirements: Close vision and ability to adjust focus are needed for inspecting small components utilizing a microscope.

· Mobility: Occasional walking, bending, or stooping to reach materials while wearing gowns, masks, hairnets, and foot covering.

· Lifting: Ability to lift, carry, or move objects, typically ranging from up to 20 pounds.

· Environmental Factors: Primarily indoor manufacturing environments, with moderate noise levels.

ITAR Compliance:
