QUALITY INSPECTOR

Compensation: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a hands-on Quality Inspector to join its manufacturing team in Worcester, MA. This role is responsible for inspecting custom bearings, stamped components, machined parts, and assemblies throughout the manufacturing process. The successful candidate will perform incoming, in-process, production, final, and First Article inspections using precision measuring equipment while ensuring all products meet blueprint specifications, dimensional tolerances, and quality standards.

This is not a paperwork-only or visual inspection role. Candidates must have strong dimensional inspection experience, be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, and possess excellent knowledge of precision measuring instruments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Inspector will be responsible for:

  • Perform incoming, in-process, production, final, and First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Inspect bearings, machined components, stampings, and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Measure parts using precision inspection equipment including:
  • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Height Gauges
  • Dial Indicators
  • Fixed Gauges
  • Gauge Pins
  • Thread Gauges
  • Bore Gauges
  • Utilize microscopes, magnifiers, optical comparators, and CMM equipment (preferred).
  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, certifications, and specifications.
  • Perform sampling inspections and document inspection results accurately.
  • Complete First Article Inspection documentation.
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming material.
  • Generate discrepancy reports and support NCR/MRB activities.
  • Communicate quality issues with Production, Engineering, and Supervisors.
  • Support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Maintain and calibrate measuring instruments when required.
  • Follow ISO quality standards, traceability requirements, and workplace safety procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on Quality Inspection experience.
  • Strong blueprint reading ability.
  • Understanding of dimensions and tolerances.
  • Experience performing dimensional inspections.
  • Experience completing First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Proficiency using:
  • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Gauges
  • Height Gauges
  • Dial Indicators
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting precision manufactured components rather than performing simple visual inspections. They should be able to independently determine inspection requirements from engineering drawings, accurately measure components, identify nonconforming material, and communicate quality issues to production teams.

Candidates who have worked with bearings, machined components, aerospace parts, medical devices, or other precision manufacturing environments will be especially competitive.

Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour
