Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team handling inspections, audits, calibrations, non-conformances and more.
Responsibilities
- Champion the day-to-day inspection and metrology function across all stages of the manufacturing process (incoming, in-process and final inspection)
- Perform and oversee dimensional, visual, and functional inspection of parts and assemblies, including accept/reject decisions, in accordance with internal procedures, engineering drawings, and customer requirements.
- Ensure all products flow through defined inspection and measurement points and that inspection status is clearly identified and controlled.
- Perform precision measurements using appropriate metrology tools and techniques to verify conformance to specifications.
- Oversee and ensuring all inspection, measurement, and test equipment is identified, calibrated, traceable and fit for use.
- Ensure all non-conformances are identified, documented, and dispositioned, including dimensional and inspection related issues.
- Conduct product testing and measurement activities to define and improve inspection methods; document procedures, collect data, and report results to cross-functional teams.
- Investigate quality and measurement-related issues, support root cause analysis, and assist with corrective action implementation.
- Participate in regular inspection and quality meetings and report inspection and measurement data as required.
- Perform Layer Process Audits and other internal audits as assigned.
- Support document control activities related to inspection, calibration, and quality records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection effectiveness, measurement accuracy and process stability.
- Undertake special projects and ongoing training as assigned.
- Support compliance with and adherence to the Quality Management System (ISO9001 / IATF 16949).
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Quality Technician, Inspection, or Metrology role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience performing dimensional inspection and measurement in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T experience preferred.
- Experience using manual measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators and basic gages.
- Working knowledge of metrology fundamentals, including measurement accuracy, repeatability, and proper gage usage.
- Experience supporting or maintaining a calibration and measurement control system.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (6S, Kaizen, Six Sigma a plus).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize and work independently.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Technical Skills
- Microsoft 365 intermediate experience (Excel/Word/Outlook)
- Previous ERP experience (SAP/Epicor/Other) and retrieving and logging information
- Familiar with quality management systems and document control processes.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Office, laboratory, and industrial manufacturing environments
Frequent sitting, occasional standing, walking and reaching. Occasional heavy lifting
