Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector I to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for inspecting fabricated metal parts and assemblies to ensure they meet customer specifications and company quality standards. The ideal candidate will have basic experience using measuring tools, reading blueprints, and working in a manufacturing environment.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in quality assurance and metal fabrication. On-the-job training will be provided for company-specific inspection processes and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of metal fabrication and machined components.
- Use measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and tape measures to verify part dimensions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Record inspection results accurately and maintain quality documentation.
- Identify non-conforming parts and communicate findings to supervisors and production personnel.
- Assist with first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Support quality improvement initiatives by reporting defects and recurring quality issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures.
- Assist with calibration and care of inspection tools and equipment.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1+ year of manufacturing, production, machining, fabrication, or quality inspection experience preferred.
- Ability to read basic blueprints and understand part dimensions.
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and rulers.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Understanding of English and metric measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication or machining.
- Exposure to quality inspection processes or quality documentation.
- Knowledge of first article inspections, in-process inspections, or PPAP documentation.
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards.
- Experience using height gauges, verniers, or other precision measuring instruments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production facility for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and use precision measuring equipment.
