Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector – OCTG/API to perform daily quality surveillance and inspection of production operations. This position reports directly to the Quality Department and is responsible for independently verifying that processes, products, and documentation meet company, customer, API, and applicable industry requirements.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the OCTG industry, with a strong background in visual inspection and/or OCTG thread inspection. The successful candidate should be comfortable working in an active production environment, identifying potential quality concerns, documenting findings, and communicating issues effectively to ensure products meet established requirements before release or shipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily quality inspections and surveillance of production activities.
- Verify compliance with applicable API requirements, customer specifications, work instructions, and company procedures.
- Perform visual inspections of OCTG products for damage, defects, workmanship issues, and other nonconforming conditions.
- Inspect and verify product condition throughout production and prior to release or shipment.
- Verify proper handling, storage, identification, traceability, and protection of materials.
- Review work orders, inspection records, and applicable quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and immediately report nonconforming conditions, quality concerns, or process deviations.
- Initiate and/or assist with Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions as required.
- Monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues before they result in defects, rework, or customer concerns.
- Independently verify compliance with established inspection and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely inspection records and documentation.
- Work independently from Operations while maintaining professional and effective communication with Production, Quality, and Management.
- Support internal, customer, and API audits as needed.
- Promote a quality-focused culture and help ensure customer requirements are consistently met.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous OCTG industry experience required.
- Working knowledge of API requirements and OCTG products.
- Experience with visual inspection and/or OCTG thread inspection required.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply drawings, specifications, procedures, work instructions, and customer requirements.
- Familiarity with thread gauges, dimensional inspection equipment, and general inspection practices.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and nonconforming conditions.
- Ability to accurately document inspection findings and communicate quality concerns effectively.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment when evaluating quality issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be willing and able to work in an active manufacturing and yard environment.
- Ability to follow all applicable safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with API 5CT and API 5B.
- Experience inspecting API, premium, and/or semi-premium threaded connections.
- Previous Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience within an OCTG threading, inspection, pipe processing, or manufacturing facility.
- Previous experience supporting API, customer, or third-party audits.
- Familiarity with OCTG inspection documentation, traceability requirements, and quality management systems.

This position is intended to provide an independent Quality presence within the operation and help prevent defects, rework, process deviations, and customer quality issues. The successful candidate will demonstrate good judgment, attention to detail, and the confidence to identify and communicate quality concerns while maintaining a professional working relationship with Operations and Management.
The ideal candidate takes ownership of quality, understands the importance of following API and customer requirements, and is committed to ensuring that only conforming products and properly documented work move forward in the process.
Work Environment
This position operates in an active OCTG manufacturing, threading, inspection, and/or yard environment. The Quality Inspector must be comfortable working around tubular products, production equipment, and industrial activities while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
This is an on-site position and requires regular presence in the production/yard environment.
Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
