Key Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional, visual, receiving, in-process, final, shipping, and First Article Inspections (FAI) on precision aerospace components and assemblies.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, route sheets, travelers, customer specifications, and GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) requirements.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, thread gages, dial indicators, and surface plates.
• Inspect machined components, castings, forgings, tooling, fixtures, and assemblies to verify compliance with engineering and customer requirements.
• Document inspection results, maintain quality records, and process nonconforming material reports (NCRs).
• Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S initiatives.
• Assist customer auditors, government source inspectors, and supplier quality activities as required.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to production personnel and junior inspectors.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6+ years of aerospace quality inspection experience in aviation, aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.
• Advanced experience performing final, in-process, receiving, and First Article Inspection (FAI) of precision-machined aerospace components.
• Strong proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, complex blueprints, GD&T (ANSI Y14.5), customer specifications, and military standards.
• Hands-on experience using precision inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, dial indicators, thread gages, and surface plates.
• Strong knowledge of shop mathematics, trigonometry, dimensional inspection, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience documenting inspection results, managing nonconforming material (NCRs), and maintaining accurate quality records.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to pass required visual acuity and color perception testing, lift up to 50 lbs., and participate in the site’s FAA/DOT Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical education in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Quality, or a related field.
• Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and related metrology software.
• Knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001, FAA regulations, and applicable military specifications.
• Level II NDT certification in two or more disciplines (MIL-STD-410/PES1-29 compliant), where applicable.
• Previous Solder Inspection Certification or ability to obtain site certification.
• Experience supporting customer audits, government source inspections, supplier quality activities, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives.
• Previous inspection experience with aircraft fuel systems, fluid systems, hydraulic components, or other aerospace assemblies.

• Do you have practical experience operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for precision dimensional inspection? (Yes/No)
• Have you worked within an AS9100 and/or AS9102 aerospace quality management system? (Yes/No)
• Have you investigated product failures or customer returns and supported root cause analysis and corrective actions? (Yes/No)
• Do you have experience inspecting precision-machined aerospace components, castings, forgings, sheet metal parts, or mechanical assemblies? (Yes/No)
