Overall Job Function:
The Quality Assurance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of products and processes across our agricultural cooperative, including grain handling, feed manufacturing, and crop inputs. This position leads the development of quality systems, partners with cross-functional teams, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. With a strong focus on standards, service, and operational excellence, the Quality Assurance Manager helps deliver safe, reliable products that support our members and strengthen the food supply chain.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems for grain, feed, crop inputs, and other agricultural products.
Ensure compliance with food/feed safety and quality standards (e.g., FSMA, GMP, GFSI, HACCP), including oversight of audits, recalls, traceability systems, and regulatory/customer inspections (e.g., FDA, USDA, state agencies).
Monitor facility quality control at all locations (e.g., grain elevators, feed mills, agronomy centers), including cleanliness, pest control, and environmental compliance.
Inspect operations, grounds, equipment, ingredients, and finished products for adherence to standards.
Oversee testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process, and finished products; conduct in-house ingredient tests and coordinate with third-party labs. Partner with integrators to meet sampling needs.
Analyze sample data and identify trends in ingredients and finished feeds.
Maintain accurate records, including inspection logs, deviations, corrective actions, and quality performance reports for leadership.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, operations, transportation, technology) to address non-compliance and continuous improvement opportunities.
Facilitate and support staff training on SOPs, food/feed safety, and quality standards. Promote a culture of quality and improvement across departments.
Audit and evaluate suppliers of ag inputs (e.g., seed, chemicals, feed ingredients) to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Participate in or lead cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Animal Science, Agronomy, Food Science, or related field.
3–5+ years of experience in quality assurance, food/feed safety, or compliance in an agricultural setting.
Knowledge of ag-industry regulations and practices (e.g., FSMA, FDA Feed Rule, AAFCO standards).
Familiarity with grain grading, feed manufacturing processes, or crop input handling preferred.
Proficient with QA documentation systems and tools; HACCP certification a plus.
Work Requirements:
This position is based in a fast-paced agricultural setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally may be loud. PPE will be provided and must be utilized according to safety standards. Typical working hours are 7am – 5pm with some extended hours during busy season.
While performing job functions the employee will be required to talk and hear most of the time. The employee will spend frequent intervals moving and sitting, while also needing to reach, bend, twist, crawl, crouch, stoop or kneel. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and maneuver on and off mobile equipment. The physicality of this job is high.
