Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QA Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team supporting application development projects at the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The QA Engineer will perform advanced software quality assurance work, including team leadership, planning, testing, and defect tracking for both manual and automated testing activities. This role will work closely with development teams and stakeholders to ensure application quality, performance, and compliance.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience testing complex web applications across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with a strong background in test case design, automation, performance testing, and API validation.
Responsibilities
Analyze user requirements, design documents, and system specifications to develop comprehensive test cases.
Create, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for functional, regression, performance, and accessibility testing.
Perform thorough manual testing, defect tracking, and data validation.
Write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data and perform data analysis.
Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to understand application functionality and determine the best test strategies.
Document and report defects, test coverage, test results, and test summary reports in detail.
Conduct API testing using JSON, XML, and other tools to validate REST and SOAP endpoints.
Assist in implementing and enhancing automated testing frameworks and open-source tools.
Support QA team activities and participate in cross-functional project discussions to ensure high software quality.
