Role Description:

We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team in Livermore, CA. The Quality Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that labels meet predetermined specifications throughout the production process. This role requires a keen eye for detail, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with press operators and other departments to maintain the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect labels on press prior to, during, and after production to ensure compliance with material, foil, colors, graphics, and text specifications.
Collaborate with press operators to resolve any issues during production and notify the Quality Control (Q.C.) Manager of problems that cannot be resolved.
Verify the accuracy of items on the Q.C. sheet and initial to indicate compliance.
Attach appropriate samples to the Job Card and Q.C. sheet for documentation.
Perform rub tests and bar code verification tests, attaching results to the Q.C. sheet.
Verify roll change forms for consistency in labels and ensure all specifications are met.
Operate rewind equipment to wind/unwind rolls of labels to specified lengths and counts, ensuring quality control at each stage.
Perform final visual inspection of labels to ensure they meet company quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace and adhere to safety procedures.
Assist in other areas of the organization as needed to support production and quality efforts.

Skills & Qualifications:

Strong attention to detail and ability to spot quality issues during the production process.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with press operators and customer service.
Solid understanding of the printing process and troubleshooting in a print environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and work under tight deadlines.
Must be comfortable standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 pounds regularly.
Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
Basic computer skills with the ability to learn various software programs (e.g., MS Office, Labeltraxx software).
Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and company policies.
Strong math skills, including basic algebra and geometry, and ability to apply concepts in all units of measure.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
6 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in the printing industry or quality control is a plus.

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and assist others across departments as needed.
Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
Ability to interact professionally and cooperatively with all levels of employees.
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong proofreading skills.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to operate machinery and handle materials.
Must be able to lift and/or move more than 75 pounds of paper materials and rolls of labels.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to assess material, quality, and color matching.

Work Environment:

The work environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles from inks and varnishes.
The noise level is typically loud, and temperatures may range from 50°F to over 90°F in the production area.
