Quality Inspector (Weekend Shift)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to perform incoming and in-process inspection of machined, stamped, molded, formed, and assembled components used in medical devices, with a focus on surgical retraction instruments, sterilization cases/trays, and related medical device accessories. Additionally, the role will support audits and quality system activities; investigate nonconformances; and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for detail, strong knowledge of inspection tools and techniques, and experience working in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. The schedule for this role is Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

What You’ll Do:

  • Verify product quantities and documentation, identify nonconformances, and coordinate rework, rejection, or corrective actions with Production as needed.
  • Review operator, supplier, and production documentation for completeness and compliance prior to inspection or product release.
  • Perform inspection of incoming raw materials and purchased components, in-process, and finished products for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, functionality, and cosmetic quality ensuring compliance with specifications, customer requirements, and company standards.
  • Inspect and verify parts returned from outsourced special processes, including electropolish, coatings (e.g., anodizing, PVD, passivation), and heat treatment, ensuring compliance with process certifications and specs.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMM, thread gauges, etc.) to verify dimensional conformance.
  • Review and verify certificates of conformance, material certs, and process certifications from suppliers and outside processors.
  • Print, apply, and verify product labels and barcodes as required.
  • Verify, review, complete work orders and associated documentation within the ERP system.
  • Support first article inspections (FAIs), Controlled and Engineering builds, finished goods sampling, and routine product audits.
  • Record, review, and maintain receiving and in process inspection logs, inspection records, scanned documents, and other quality system documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and internal quality system procedures and recommend updates when improvements or changes are needed.
  • Respond to internal quality support requests and assist with quality-related issues throughout the organization.
  • Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure conformance to established requirements and support continuous improvement initiatives.

This Might Describe You:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in quality inspection, machining, or manufacturing a plus.
  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment; medical device experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485 and/or FDA QSR (21 CFR Part 820) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills (ERP/QMS data entry, Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to work independently during weekend shift hours with minimal on-site supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods during 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to lift 25–35 lbs. occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small precision parts and inspection tools.
  • Visual acuity for detailed inspection work (corrected vision acceptable).
