Overview

Quality & Inventory Coordinator Jobs in Warren, MI at Genex Windows

About Genex

Genex Windows is a Michigan-based manufacturer and installer of high-quality vinyl windows. We are a growing, hands-on manufacturing company where people are expected to take ownership, solve problems, and help make the operation better.

We’re looking for a Quality & Inventory Coordinator to take ownership of two areas critical to our growth: our quality management system and our inventory/material flow.

This is not a desk-only quality position, and it is not simply a warehouse/material handler position. We need someone who can maintain documentation and systems while also being comfortable walking the production floor, counting inventory, inspecting incoming material, investigating problems, and making sure production has what it needs.

What You’ll OwnQuality Management

Your first major responsibility will be helping us fully implement and maintain our existing Quality Management System.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve our existing Quality Manual and procedures
  • Ensure required quality processes are actually being followed on the manufacturing floor
  • Maintain quality records and documentation
  • Conduct routine internal quality audits
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials and products
  • Help investigate quality problems and determine root causes
  • Track corrective and preventive actions through completion
  • Maintain calibration and inspection records
  • Ensure controlled documents and procedures remain current
  • Work directly with production employees and leadership to improve quality
  • Help prepare the facility for customer, certification, and other external audits
  • Track and report key quality metrics

The goal is simple: our Quality Manual should describe how we actually operate—not sit in a binder collecting dust.

Inventory Control

You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory and helping ensure production has the materials it needs, when it needs them.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accurate inventory counts
  • Establish and execute a regular cycle-counting process
  • Monitor critical inventory levels and identify shortages before they affect production
  • Maintain appropriate minimum/reorder levels
  • Receive and verify incoming materials
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain organized inventory locations
  • Coordinate with purchasing and production regarding material requirements
  • Identify obsolete, damaged, or excess inventory
  • Help improve our inventory tracking processes and systems

Material Handling & Production Support

This is a hands-on manufacturing position.

You should expect to spend significant time on the production floor and in material storage areas.

Responsibilities include:

  • Stage materials for production
  • Move and organize incoming materials
  • Verify materials against purchase orders and packing slips
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage or quality issues
  • Maintain clean and organized inventory areas
  • Assist production when material shortages or quality issues arise
  • Help implement 5S and visual-management practices throughout inventory areas
  • Operate material-handling equipment as appropriate and qualified

What We’re Looking For

We’re more interested in finding the right operator than checking every box on a résumé.

An ideal candidate is:

  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Willing to hold themselves and others accountable to established processes
  • Comfortable working both at a computer and on a manufacturing floor
  • Able to identify a problem, investigate why it happened, and help prevent it from happening again
  • Comfortable communicating with production employees, supervisors, vendors, and management
  • Proficient with basic computer systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Able to learn new inventory and quality systems quickly

Experience in any of the following is strongly preferred:

  • Manufacturing
  • Quality assurance or quality control
  • Inventory control
  • Warehouse/material management
  • ISO 9001 or another formal quality management system
  • Internal quality auditing
  • Lean manufacturing / 5S
  • ERP or inventory management software
  • Root-cause analysis and corrective actions

A college degree is not required. Manufacturing experience, judgment, reliability, and attention to detail matter more to us.

Physical Requirements

This is an active manufacturing position. Candidates must be comfortable:

  • Regularly walking throughout a manufacturing facility
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Bending, reaching, and working around manufacturing equipment
  • Moving and handling manufacturing materials
  • Safely lifting approximately 50 pounds when necessary

How We Measure Success

Within your first several months, we want to see:

  • The Genex Quality Management System fully implemented and routinely followed
  • Quality records complete, organized, and audit-ready
  • Regular internal audits occurring
  • Corrective actions tracked through completion
  • Inventory accuracy consistently improving toward 98%+
  • Regular cycle counts completed on schedule
  • Critical material shortages identified before they stop production
  • Inventory locations clearly identified and organized
  • Fewer production interruptions caused by missing or misplaced material

Who Will Succeed Here

This position will fit someone who likes walking into a situation and making it better.

If you need every process to already be perfect before you can do your job, this probably isn’t the position for you.

If you enjoy creating order, solving problems, holding a high standard, and being able to point six months later and say, “That works better because I fixed it,” we’d like to talk to you.
