This new entity will provide marine and technical support to the MSC Cruises fleet within the USA region and will serve as a vital link to our MSC Cruise Management Office in London. The Quality and Refurbishment Canvas Manager is responsible for supporting the superintendent in the technical office, whilst managing the day-to-day operations within the hotel department onboard. This role focuses on ensuring the efficient execution of outfitting projects for vessels based in the United States. This exciting role includes ensuring the smooth procurement and availability of materials, supporting coordination between technical and operational teams, and overseeing the effective and timely completion of outfitting works on board.
Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Architecture (or similar) is preferred
A minimum of 3 year’s experience as a Refurbishment Supervisor, Site Manager, or similar;
Good IT skills, particularly MS Word, Excel (including use of formulas and tables), Power Point, AutoCAD/Microstation and Rhino;
Proven knowledge of SOLAS and IMO;
Ability to read detailed design and technical drawings;
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
Excellent organisation skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities
Assists the superintendent in coordinating and managing outfitting works for assigned vessels, ensuring that all tasks are aligned with technical specifications and timelines.
Performs regular vessel visits to inspect and assess the maintenance and quality of outfitting materials and installations.
Facilitates the communication between the technical office and the hotel department, ensuring seamless coordination for the procurement and delivery of materials.
Investigates new suppliers to optimize costs and improve response times for necessary repairs and outfitting works to be completed.
Supervises and monitors the progress of outfitting works, ensuring adherence to quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
Provides consistent and up-to-date reports on vessel status to the Head Office, highlighting key milestones, risks, and any issues that need resolution.
Collaborates with the team to review mock-ups and inspect first-of-production installations for public spaces, guest staterooms, and corridors.
Reports updates on work progress, focusing on timelines, cost management, inspections, and quality control.
Identifies and mitigates risks early, solving problems swiftly to keep projects on track.
Supports in the creation and delivery of presentations to senior management on the status of outfitting projects.
Maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including vessel management, coordinators, and contractors, ensuring smooth workflow and project efficiency.
Coordinates repairs covered by contractual guarantees with yards and suppliers as needed.
