Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, results-oriented Quality Manager to lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control in our lubricant manufacturing operations. This role ensures all products consistently meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and international quality standards, while supporting operational excellence throughout the manufacturing value chain.
The successful candidate will oversee laboratory operations, quality systems, process controls, supplier quality, customer complaint resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is essential for maintaining product integrity, brand reputation, and compliance across a diverse range of automotive, industrial, marine, and specialty lubricants.
The Quality Manager will collaborate with Production, R&D, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, and Technical Services to ensure all products released to market meet strict performance, reliability, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and improve Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) systems across manufacturing and laboratory operations.
- Establish and maintain quality procedures, specifications, work instructions, and testing protocols for raw materials, packaging, work in progress, and finished lubricants.
- Ensure compliance with applicable ASTM, ISO, SAE, API, OEM, environmental, and regulatory requirements governing lubricant manufacturing and distribution.
- Lead internal and external quality audits, ensuring timely closure of findings through effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). quality management systems to support compliance and traceability requirements.
Laboratory & Product Quality Management
- Oversee laboratory testing to ensure accurate and timely analysis of raw materials, additives, base oils, in-process blends, and finished products against approved specifications, viscosity grades, and performance standards.
- Ensure testing and validation of key lubricant characteristics, including:
- Kinematic and dynamic viscosity
- Viscosity Index (VI)
- Flash Point and Fire Point
- Pour Point and Cloud Point
- Total Base Number (TBN) and Total Acid Number (TAN)
- Oxidation Stability
- Foaming Characteristics
- Corrosion Protection
- Wear Protection Performance
- Shear Stability
- Shelf-Life and Storage Stability
- Ensure laboratory equipment and testing instruments are calibrated, maintained, and meet industry requirements.
Process Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor production and blending processes to identify quality risks, deviations, and nonconformities prior to product release.
- Analyze quality trends and key performance indicators to optimize processes and ensure manufacturing consistency.
- Lead root cause investigations using structured methodologies such as 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, FMEA, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Implement preventive measures to reduce defects, rework, customer complaints, and quality-related production losses.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product reliability. plaints, product returns, warranty claims, and field performance issues.
- Develop corrective and preventive actions to address recurring quality concerns.
- Work with suppliers to ensure consistent quality of base oils, additives, packaging, and other critical inputs.
- Conduct supplier quality assessments and support qualification and performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in customer audits, technical reviews, and quality assurance meetings to build customer confidence and satisfaction.
New Product Development & Technical Support
- Support R&D teams during formulation development, product validation, and commercialization.
- Review and approve quality requirements for new products, formulation changes, and process modifications.
- Ensure the successful qualification and launch of new lubricant products while maintaining compliance with applicable industry standards.
- Provide technical quality expertise on emerging lubricant technologies, synthetic formulations, low-SAPS products, environmentally responsible lubricants, and changing customer requirements.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality team to foster accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
- Set performance goals, training plans, and competency development programs for laboratory and quality staff.
- Promote a quality-first culture by partnering with cross-functional teams and influencing quality-driven decisions.
- Ensure effective resource planning and workforce capability to support production volumes, product diversity, and business growth.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master's Degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in the Lubricant Manufacturing Industry is required.
- Proven experience managing laboratory operations, quality systems, product compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting customer audits, supplier quality management, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to identify, investigate, and resolve common lubricant quality issues, including:
- Viscosity deviations
- Additive separation or incompatibility
- Oxidation and thermal degradation
- Contamination by water, particles, or foreign materials
- Foaming and air entrainment issues
- Corrosion and wear-related failures
- Product instability during storage or transportation
- Batch-to-batch performance variation
