The Opportunity
An established and growing chilled food manufacturer is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Manager to join its management team. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional looking to take ownership of food safety, quality systems, auditing and continuous improvement activities within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, customer standards and industry certifications.
- Maintain and continuously improve quality management systems, policies and procedures.
- Support production teams to uphold and enhance food safety and quality standards.
- Drive a positive food safety and quality culture throughout the business.
- Lead internal auditing programmes and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
- Monitor HACCP systems and production controls.
- Review microbiological and chemical results and manage out-of-specification investigations.
- Manage customer complaints, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support customer, regulatory and third-party audits.
- Conduct hygiene, GMP, glass and foreign body audits.
- Ensure traceability systems are maintained and regularly verified.
- Manage supplier quality activities and liaise with external service providers.
- Maintain customer specifications and technical documentation.
- Deliver continuous improvement projects across quality and food safety functions.
- Train and coach colleagues on food safety and quality requirements.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.
- Experience within chilled food manufacturing in a quality, technical or food safety role.
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, auditing and food safety systems.
- Experience working with retailer and customer standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
