The QA Lead is responsible for the QA Technicians and of ensuring that the manufacturing process is carried in a food safe and wholesome manner. The QA Lead is also responsible for identifying and resolving quality issues, working hand in hand with operations and checking that all products are manufactured according to the correct product specification and flow. The QA Lead needs to be familiar with HACCP and GMP. The QA Lead reports to the QA Supervisor and SQF Practitioner.
2nd Shift: 12:00PM – 8:30PM, Monday-Saturday, with a random day off
Candidates will be trained on 1st shift and then transferring to 2nd shift once it opens. Looking to expand about Q3.
Responsibilities:
· Train new QA technicians. Responsible for Proficiency Testing of QA technicians.
· Provide leadership and communication to QA.
· Assist with scheduling QA team.
· Go-to person for QA team – conduct weekly team meetings to re train and maintain good communication.
· Back up for QA technicians.
· Monitor QA department for supplies, including processing aids.
· Monitor Color Coding Policy.
· Can participate in 3rd party audits and annual SQF audit.
· Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
· Provide independent oversight of processes, verifying compliance to company standards and policies, effectively communicating deviations from standards or processes.
· Can conduct documentation and record verification.
· Responsible for investigating food safety and quality related incidents discovered through customer complaints and reported by production or QA staff.
· Assist Food Safety Manager in the implementation new policies and procedures.
· Responsible for Environmental Swabbing.
· Maintain accurate and organized records of QA/QC activities. Reviews all traceability records to ensure that all information is correct and complete.
· Maintain a clear understanding of customer requirements.
· Adhere to all regulatory rules and regulations, ensuring that Food Safety and product performance standards are met.
· Conduct Shelf-Life studies for the finished products.
· Responsible for conducting Monthly Internal Inspections and Glass Register verification.
· Responsible for Foreign Material Log. Responsible to conduct investigation and determine corrective and preventive actions together with Production.
· Handle quality assurance issues on production floor as they arise.
· Have good communication with Sanitation Lead of any deviations found during inspections or operations.
· Responsible for maintaining QA forms. Making sure they are accurate and correct.
· Responsible for QA SDS Binder.
· Maintain organized inventory of retained products/equipment (Hold Log).
· Monitor HACCP critical control points

· Work standing or walking for most working shifts
· Perform very physical duties, including but not limited to pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, and walking
· Adhere to all regulatory rules and regulations, ensuring that Food Safety and product performance standards are met.
· Run GMP Inspections.
· Calibrate test equipment such as scales, thermometers, metal detector, pH meter and colorimeter.
· Control the concentrations of the chemicals and sanitizers. Control that all chemicals are being used in appropriate products and doses.
· Perform daily Pre-operational inspections and Pre-op ATP testing.
· Conduct leak detecting checks for each type of polybag.
· Test finished products moisture content.
· Perform temperature controls.
· Perform metal detector controls.
· Monitor allergen management.
· Check finished products from previous date for any defects. Follow the corrective actions based on the outcome of the inspection.
· Assist in training employees on Food Safety, company processes and FDA Good Manufacturing Practices.
· Develop and maintain operational quality standards, traceability, batch sheets and specification sheets.
· Perform raw material inspections and follow the corrective actions based on the outcome of the inspection.
· Perform Packaging Changeover to verify product is packed in correct box with correct label and dates.
· Check finished product packaging labels.
Requirements:
· Recommended to have lead quality experience in a fresh food manufacturing environment
· Food Safety Skills: Recommended to have GMP’s, HACCP, CCP experience.
· Recommended to demonstrate experience with internal quality inspections and audits
· Maintain a positive work environment
· Must be willing to work designated shifts
· Ability to work in cold environment (below 40 °F)
