Quality Manager Jobs in Auburn Hills, MI at Caravan Facilities Management L.L.C.
What to Expect
Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.
Our first goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.
We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.
Job Overview
Uptime, availability and reliability are critical to our converters (inverters & rectifiers) that connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads like datacenters to the grid. This is a unique hands-on role that lives at the intersection of Systems Testing and Testing Infrastructure development. In this role, you will have a systems level view of Heron’s products and understand the theory-of-operation of the entire system. You will be responsible for developing robust and innovative test infrastructure for Heron products across their entire lifecycle.
How You Will Contribute
Architect & Deploy: Lead design and rollout of automated test infrastructure—test benches, power systems, chambers, safety interlocks, and remote access.
Build & Interface: Create modular test stands and custom PCBs to interface DUTs, sensors, and fault-injection hardware.
Automate & Scale: Develop robust automation frameworks (Python, LabVIEW) for control sequences, data logging, and CI/CD integration.
Define & Document: Translate system schematics and FMEAs into test specs, plans, and pass/fail criteria.
Operate & Monitor: Manage test execution locally and remotely; implement dashboards and alerts for live data and health metrics.
Collaborate & Improve: Partner with firmware, reliability, and manufacturing teams to evolve test coverage and throughput.
What You Will Bring
We prioritize a strong foundation in first principles, practical skills, an inquisitive mindset, and a proactive attitude. Domain-specific knowledge and experience will help determine the career level for each hire.
Must-Have Requirements
Experience developing and deploying automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems from ground up (both hardware and automation software)
Experience with test automation toolchains, including scripting in Python and integration with National Instruments LabVIEW and other test infrastructure systems
Ability to define test requirements by synthesizing system architecture, schematics, FMEAs
Hands-on experience building test stands using custom and off-the-shelf testing hardware like programmable power supplies, data-acquisition systems
Ability to read electrical schematics and embedded firmware code
Nice-to-Haves
Hands-on experience with high voltage DC and AC systems testing
Experience with open source testing frameworks like OpenHTF
Experience in developing data backends and web-apps for data analysis and sharing (i.e. InfluxDB, Grafana)
Familiarity with developing manufacturing test systems or end-of-line testing infrastructure
Experience with mechanical design and prototyping
If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power.
