Custom Fabricators & Repairs, Inc is seeking a Quality Control Manager to manage the quality program as well as our Quality Management System (QMS).
Custom Fabricators & Repairs, Inc is a well-respected miscellaneous metals & structural steel fabricator who has been in business for over three decades. Quality & service are the core principles of our company, and we prioritize excellent relationships with our clients. We are the only AISC certificated structural steel fabricator in Bryan, TX. We provide structural & misc steel, as well misc material sales (steel, aluminum, stainless steel), misc repairs, custom work, and job shop services. We service clients in the commercial retail/residential/office, educational, pharmaceutical, food service, manufacturing industries and more.
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a Quality Manager in the construction/fabrication field or at least a college degree in construction science/management. Knowledge of the different types of metals as well as structural steel is a plus. Experience with structural steel projects helpful. Hands-on working knowledge STRUMIS is a definite plus. Must have strong communication skills, analysis and critical thinking skills and the ability to meet deadlines as well as be extremely organized and ability to multitask. This individual must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, focused as well as possess strong leadership qualities.
Job Summary: A Quality Manager oversees supervising the production process to make sure that all products meet consistent standards. Their duties include developing and implementing quality control tests, inspecting products at various stages, and writing reports documenting production issues. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for implementation, improvement and execution of the Quality management systems (QMS) and project specific quality program requirements. They ensure that works are planned and executed in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of the Company. A quality manager is tasked with the obligation to ensure all company products meet consumer expectations and demands. Specific daily duties for this position include overseeing employee performance and inspecting products to ensure conformity throughout the production process. Where products fail to meet quality standards, the quality manager is responsible for discarding and rejecting the product and documenting the reasons why it failed to meet the quality standards set. Quality managers are responsible for monitoring and evaluating internal production processes, examining products to determine their quality, and engaging with customers, and gathering product feedback, among other duties. Quality managers occupy important positions and will need to be highly conscientious and responsible workers, as defective products could cost a company significant loss.

Full Job Description
· Maintain and administer the quality management system and associated documentation.
· Provide support to project managers in reviewing customer specification and special testing requirements.
· Assure operations are in accordance with the safety plan and QMS.
· Design and implement ongoing training program for production personnel.
· Document and maintain completion of training program.
· Contribute to the resolution of critical nonconforming product or nonconformances with the
· quality management system.
· Maintain the calibration systems for measuring and testing equipment.
· Maintain Welding Procedures in accordance with proper AWS D1.X code.
· Arrange for non-destructive testing and other outside testing as needed.
· Assure functions performed by shop employees meet specifications of Quality Assurance program.
· Guarantee welding personnel are welding in accordance with welding procedures.
· Affirm welders are qualified and re-qualified per the proper AWS D1.X code.
· Assign appropriate gages to shop.
· Form a comprehensive Inspection Plan.
· Monitor frequency of inspections.
· Recommend methods for achieving quality assurance requirements or project specifications.
· Supervise all outsourced inspection activities and accepts reports and coordinates third party inspection activities.
· Ensuring that products adhere to quality standards.
· Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
· Work according to deadlines for the delivery of products.
· Tracking products through the manufacturing process to guarantee that each part of the process is correct.
· Performing detailed and recorded inspections of final products so the products are up to industry and company standards.
· Eliminating products that are not up to standard and finding the reasons for product problems.
· Collaborate with the upper management team to set quality benchmarks.
· Create standards in accordance with industry standards and customer expectations.
· Identify quality control processes to ensure criteria are met at all times.
· Execute tests to check final product adherence to the company standards.
· Record findings and relay this information to the production team.
· Brainstorm ideas to increase productivity and performance of the production line while maintaining accuracy in quality.
· Make crucial decisions in favor of cost-efficiency without compromising on quality.
· Coaches, mentors and trains entire project staff in quality management principles, procedures and project-specific requirements.
· Responsible for leading and managing quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, Quality Incident Reports, Lesson Sharing and follow-up inspections.
· Prepare project audit schedules, discipline activity plans for the QA function, and audit reports (internal and external), noting nonconformance and verifying effective corrective action
· Routinely audits project quality programs seeking continuous improvement utilizing Project QC Evaluation and other auditing tools. Provides feedback to Operations and Quality Management of major QIRs, project team relationships, owner/client perceptions, and overall quality management recurring non-conformances.
· Maintain the AISC Certified Quality System.
· Manage and carry-on Internal Audits.
· Coordinate External Audits as needed.
· Oversee Vendor’s Quality and performance.
· Rejecting products that fail quality standards.
· Engaging with customers and gathering product feedback.
· Producing statistical reports on quality standards.
· Reporting to upper management on quality standard issues.
· Evaluating product recalls.
· Improving production efficiency and managing waste.
Responsibilities
· Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations.
· Oversee all product development procedures to ensure compliance of quality standards.
· Verify that the purchased raw material or products from suppliers meet the specifications.
· Monitor the vendor’s performance.
· Supervise the inspectors, technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback.
· Inspect final output to guarantee that requirements are achieved, approving the right products, and rejecting defective ones.
· Keep accurate documentation of all processes and procedures in the plant.
· Analyze data to detect deviations from the standards.
· Submit detailed reports as needed.
· Stop or hold production or work for quality issues.
· Decide on (disposition) non-critical nonconforming product.
· Qualify Welders.
· Reject or accept incoming materials.
· Record quality system problems.
· Implement methods to meet quality management system.
· Approve or reject quality of fabrication within the requirements of project specification.
Qualifications for Quality Manager:
· 5 years’ experience as a quality manager in a production processing environment.
· Familiar with company and industry quality standards and processes.
· Proficient in computer technology and systems.
· Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
· In-depth knowledge of market trends and conditions.
· Strong leadership and management skills.
· Excellent analytical, math, and problem-solving abilities.
