Overview

Interior Health is hiring a term‑specific full‑time Quality Review Coordinator who is passionate about making a difference in healthcare. This position is located within the Kootenay Boundary and East Kootenay region of the Interior Health Authority and the successful applicant is expected to travel to long‑term care sites. The term ends approximately April2,2027 or upon return of the incumbent.

Benefits and Compensation

Salary range: $90,770 to $130,481. Employer‑paid training and education, vacation, insurance premiums, extended health & dental coverage, and work‑life balance. May be eligible to contribute to MPP.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and expertise in assessing and reviewing risk and quality of resident care and applying quality improvement and change management principles.
  • Monitor and analyze data such as complaints, licensing incidents, PSLS reports, infection control audits, and other performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain strong communication with IH site managers and contracted partners; schedule, organize, and lead the quality review process for long‑term care facilities.
  • Work with the Long‑term Care Clinical Operations team, Long‑term Care Services team, and IH Quality and patient safety teams in planning, implementation, and evaluation of improvement initiatives focusing on quality of care, service utilization, safety, and risk reduction.
  • Participate with Patient Safety Investigators in reviews of critical incidents and develop recommendations arising from critical incident investigations.
  • Review, monitor, and evaluate risk and incident data on an ongoing basis including accreditation and PSLS reports, performance indicators, and licensing reviews.
  • Work closely with Patient Care Quality Officers and Patient Safety Investigators to address client and family concerns and patient safety events deemed to be critical incidents.
  • Liaise with facility, licensing, resident, family, and other bodies as required to further investigate issues.
  • Continue to monitor the site for outcomes and resolution; work closely with the Director of Long‑term Care Services and the Managers and Directors of Clinical Operations when resolution is not timely.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct quality reviews for assigned long‑term care facilities.
  • Develop and manage temporary teams consisting of local experts and resources as appropriate to aid in the quality review process.
  • Produce summary reports for the Managers and Directors of Clinical Operations and Director of Long‑term Care Services.
  • Identify region and site‑based quality improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with IH Quality and patient Safety to develop action plans.
  • Assist in promoting a culture of quality throughout long‑term care by facilitating the integration of quality improvement initiatives and change management practices.
  • Act as an expert in integrating accreditation principles and standards within regional and site‑based initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for knowledge exchange and education related to Required Organization Practices (ROPs).
  • Maintain strong communications with site managers and contracted partners.
  • Routinely communicate site‑level operational activities to the Directors of Clinical Operations.
  • Review contracted partner staffing reports and other documentation to confirm that submitted reports accurately reflect staffing patterns and that staffing models and mix meet IH contract service deliverables, Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines and standards, and identified resident needs.
  • Provide regular reports to the Long‑term Care Services team and others, identifying status of quality reviews, variances, trends, educational needs, and go‑forward recommendations.
  • Participate in the ongoing review of the quality review process to ensure it reflects MOH directives, CIHI and accreditation requirements, and licensing, regulatory, and IH contractual requirements.
  • Provide support to the Long‑term Care Services team with respect to collating quality review data across the Health Authority.
