Quality Control Technician
Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician is to ensure the highest quality product is delivered to our customers and for ongoing product and materials testing, and reporting. Includes maintenance of all testing and laboratory equipment, plant and truck quality certifications and preparation and management of mix designs.
Quality Control Key Responsibilities
Provide effective leadership and involvement in the implementation and monitoring to ensure success in all operations.
Represent the interests of the company on the jobsite through product testing, admixture additions, temperature control and communicating with other key points of contact within the organization to facilitate quality, process and business performance improvements.
Manage the testing of raw materials and finished product for the company.
Manage and maintain the Quality Control Laboratory.
Perform sampling, testing and storage of raw materials samples required by MDOT OMS.
Provide direction and support to plant managers and drivers in quality management issues including testing and evaluation of raw materials, plant and control equipment and participation in driver training.
Participate with the Owner in establishing, monitoring and reviewing quality procedures.
Document all raw material, product, trial batch testing and reporting.
Maintain positive working relationships with key interfaces (drivers, operations, billing, dispatchers).
Ensure onsite compliance to OSHA requirements.
Maintain testing certifications required to perform all materials and product testing.

Key Competencies
Product knowledge of Ready Mixed Concrete, Cement, Supplemental Cements, Admixtures, Aggregates and Water.
Knowledge of raw materials and the impacts of inventory and stockpile and water cooling and heating on the finished product.
Initiative and drive to continuously improve the quality of products produced and delivered to all our customers.
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with key points of contact both internal and external to the organization.
Ability to manage a large volume of information at once, while effectively managing priorities.
Ability to work easily and keep composure in a stressful, ever-changing environment.

Physical Demands
Lift heavy objects, up to 75 lbs. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Good dexterity of two or more limbs (for example, fingers, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing. Specialized protective and safety equipment as needed.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
