Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Welding Inspector to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that welding processes and final products meet the required standards of quality and safety. This role is crucial in maintaining compliance with industry regulations and internal quality systems, contributing to the overall success of our manufacturing operations. The end customer is military and aerospace, experience in either or both of these sectors is highly desired. The primary location for this position is in Saginaw, MI.
Duties
Conduct thorough inspections of welds to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards and safety regulations.
Perform visual, dimensional and non-destructive testing (NDT) as required.
Interpret welding codes, blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
Document and report inspection findings, including any defects, nonconformities or required corrective actions
Work collaboratively with welding teams, engineers and project managers to resolve issues and maintain quality standards.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety across all projects.
Qualifications
Valid Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification through the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent.
In-depth knowledge of welding processes, materials, and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API).Experience with nondestructive testing (NDT) methods is a plus.
Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Familiarity with construction or fabrication environments preferred.
Exposure to a variety of challenging the aerospace industry projects, working with aluminum welds.
Expected hours: 40+ per week
Experience:Quality control: 4 years (Preferred)
Weld inspector: 4 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:Certified Welding Inspector (Required)
