SCOPE & BASIC FUNCTION:
This position will assist in raw material, work-in-process batch preparation, finished product batching, and finished product sample collection and testing. Duties will include ingredient weigh-up and dispensing, data collection, logging, and statistical analysis; database maintenance; preparing reports to clearly communicate results and trends. The data generated by this position, and technician’s product familiarity allows continuous improvement of our products, processes, and prevent shipment of nonconforming products to end customers. Other relevant duties include calibration checks; assisting with work instructions and procedures; assist in the design, execution, data gathering & analysis of product trials and experiments, Maintain 5S in the QC lab.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular attendance and punctuality required
Develop & follow detailed protocols for a variety of product and device testing procedures – mechanical, electrical, durability tests / methodologies
Develop, manage, and maintain data and product retention strategies for Lititz, building to Woodstream as a whole.
Assist in maintaining the QC laboratory including updating lab protocols/SOPs; adherence to good laboratory practices; and product quality control
Assisting in the testing evaluation of new and existing products
Creativity, having a broad understanding of manufacturing processes (batching, filling, quality assurance), and a results-oriented mindset are required skills
Drive for excellence and a commitment to meet deadlines is also key to success in this position
Ensure products meet important functional and performance attributes, and have thresholds which are realistic and incorporate manufacturing limitations and capabilities are paramount to the position
Preparing prototypes, test fixtures
Ensure timely and appropriate QC and Lititz production support
Attend/present at various internal meetings to discuss test results and data
Working knowledge in use lab equipment
Performs other duties as assigned
Works with some hazardous materials, requiring specialized PPE including respiratory protection.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS:
Associates degree with minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting preferred
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for product & processing testing.
Computer literacy required i.e.: MS suite of products
Statistical software knowledge – Minitab is a plus
Strong written & verbal communication skills
Positive attitude; ability to work positively with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (adjust as necessary for this position):
This position is Safety Sensitive. This position works with hazardous materials and requires a respiratory medical evaluation and fit testing for respiratory protection.
