JOB PURPOSE: The QA Technician is responsible for monitoring the pre-operational and operational sanitation and production-related activities that impact the Little Brown Bird’s Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management System.

JOB DUTIES:

 Monitor Food Safety and Quality critical control points and critical quality points respectively.

 Monitor Food Safety and Quality pre-requisite program control points.

 Perform product inspections to verify adherence to product specifications.

 Accurately document the results of the monitoring activities performed.

 Initiate corrective actions when a deviation is uncovered during a monitoring activity.

 Monitor preventive measures implemented as a result of a deviation.

 Work independently with contracted sanitation during pre-operational sanitation.

 Utilize test equipment to monitor production equipment operation and food safety and quality parameters.

 Collect microbiological samples using aseptic techniques.

 Perform organoleptic shelf-life evaluations of finished products.

 Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with plant management, hourly associates, and USDA inspection personnel.

 Follow written and verbal instructions.

 Assist management with special projects as needed.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/ COMPETENCIES:

 Minimum High School graduate or GED (required).

 Minimum two years’ experience in food production from a Food Safety and Quality perspective(preferred).

 Previous supervisory experience with reports writing (required).

 HACCP Certification (preferred).

 Experience with writing and enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs).

 Strong analytical and mathematics skills.

 Ability to work with minimal supervision.

 Strong attention to detail and ability to work well in a team setting.

 Excellent reading, writing, and math skills preferred.

 Basic computer and electronic tablet device literacy.

 Comfortable working in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment

 Willingness to work in noisy environments.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

 Job requires workers to lift up to 50 lbs.

 Be able to work standing for several hours.

 Must be able to: step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulders as needed.

 Work in a cold and hot environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 50 per week
