SUMMARY:
The QA Inspector I must complete QA apprenticeship requirements and maintain QA duties and reporting. QA Inspector I should be able to review QA documentation by trades and provide trades the guidance to make corrections, under the supervision of QA management. If the candidate has not acquired these yet, the candidate must pass the following training classes: weld workmanship training at a minimum of 85%; AMPP CIP Level 1 or NBPI; and an additional optional PCMS or other first level inspector classes available. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently with supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Good mathematical skills and some knowledge in chemistry in materials, ferrous & non-ferrous metal (metallurgy).
Knowledgeable in metrology and instrumentation.
Ensure welding and brazing procedures and worker qualifications are up to date.
Ensure that all welding and brazing personnel are properly trained and certified.
Performs and prepare reports of inspection results and maintain records of inspections.
Able to complete required reporting to Management, as well as to Government or Commercial customers.
Must have excellent written and communication skills, as well as computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
The individual must have a working knowledge of portable document format software in regards to simple file conversion, file securement and signatures, such as Adobe PDF.
Must be able to manage people with the ability to handle stress and employee relations.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum of two years’ experience in welding. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of welding process and techniques. Possess a certification from an accredited welding school or association. Familiar with quality control procedures and safety regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
