About the role

The Quality Control Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing quality assurance processes for a low-volume vehicle manufacturer specializing in Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) assembly. This role ensures that all vehicles meet the highest quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive quality control, SKD assembly, and lean manufacturing principles

What you’ll do

Quality Assurance and Inspection

Develop and implement quality control procedures for SKD vehicle assembly.
Conduct inspections at various stages of assembly to ensure compliance with OEM specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Identify non-conformities, document issues, and lead corrective action initiatives.
Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues in real time.
Develop incoming material inspection plans.
Develop predelivery inspection and preparation plans.

Inventory and Material Flow Management

Optimize inventory levels to ensure just-in-time (JIT) delivery while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs.
Implement lean material flow strategies and pull systems, to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring proper handling, storage, and tracking of incoming and outgoing materials.

Process Improvement and Compliance

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Control Checklists.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other relevant quality management systems.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Team Leadership and Training

Ensure effective execution of quality audits and inspections.
Provide training on quality standards, inspection techniques, and defect detection.
Foster a culture of quality and accountability across the production team.

Reporting and Data Analysis

Maintain detailed quality records, analyze trends, and generate reports on quality metrics.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine assembly processes and minimize defects.
Work with suppliers to ensure incoming SKD parts meet quality standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in automotive quality control, preferably in low-volume or SKD vehicle manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of automotive quality standards, regulatory requirements, and inspection techniques.
Experience with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and other quality management tools.
Proficiency in quality auditing, data analysis, and reporting.
Hands-on experience with measurement tools and defect detection methods.
Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
Certification in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), ISO 9001, or IATF 16949 is a plus.

This position requires both time in the office and the manufacturing floor.
Domestic and International will be necessary occasionally.

The pay range for this role is:
95,000 – 115,000 USD per year(Fontana Plant )
