Quality Assurance Technician – Weld & NDE Inspection
About the Role
A manufacturing company is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician with a background in weld and non-destructive examination (NDE) inspection. This is an opportunity to join an established Quality Assurance team known for rigorous standards and continuous improvement.
The technician will apply precision measurement tools and inspection methods to confirm parts and processes meet quality requirements. Strong attention to detail and clear communication are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with colleagues, auditors, customers, suppliers, and site visitors. What You’ll Do
- Verify materials, processes, and finished products meet established quality standards through inspection and auditing.
- Perform dimensional inspections and NDE testing methods including MT, VT, and PT.
- Examine in-process and completed weldments and components for conformance and workmanship.
- Evaluate welder performance against procedure and certification requirements.
- Serve as a quality representative in communications with internal teams, auditors, customers, and suppliers.
- Flag and communicate quality concerns to relevant stakeholders.
- Generate inspection documentation in both digital and paper formats.
- Gather, track, and distribute quality metrics and departmental data.
- Enter and manage data within ERP and QMS platforms.
- Participate in cross-training and support specialized inspection needs as they arise.
- Take part in internal audits and Corrective/Preventive Action initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across the quality function.
- Adjust schedule as needed, including occasional hours beyond 40/week, to meet production demands.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- At least 2 years of quality assurance experience, or 5 years in a manufacturing environment (equivalent combinations of education/experience considered).
- Working knowledge of blueprint reading and dimensional hand tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Exposure to ERP and QMS systems.
- Understanding of Non-Conformance reporting and Corrective/Preventive Action processes.
Certifications (at least one required):
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)
- NDE Level II+ in Visual Testing (VT)
- NDE Level II+ in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- NDE Level II+ in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician
