Description:
The Quality Technician is responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, performing, and maintaining the quality control/quality assurance program in accordance with GFSI food safety standards, FDA, Organic and State regulations.
JOB SUMMARY
1. Attain and/or maintain Food Safety Standards Certifications (i.e. SQF or equivalent, HACCP, PCQI).
2. Responsible for inspection of incoming materials to determine acceptability based on approved company specifications and HACCP/Preventive Controls Program.
3. Conduct daily operational inspections ensuring compliance with company procedures, GFSI, CCP’s, PRPs, SOPs, SSOPs, regulatory and organic requirements.
4. Assist with environmental monitoring including plan development, implementation, sampling and analysis.
5. Responsible for evaluation and testing of intermediate processes and final product compliance results with documentation and communication of all finish product dispositions and raw ingredient quality decisions during production preparation and batching.
6. Conduct and promote food safety compliance and education to manufacturing and other operational departments.
7. Participate and assist in verification audits, process improvements and corrective actions.
8. Analyze and record process data and maintain compliance records.
9. Support blend management, research & development and product development activities which could include sensory evaluation of coffee at all stages of the process flow.
10. Interact with all aspects of the process including employees in the Roastery, Packaging Room, Grinding Room and Warehouse.
11. Maintain calibration of quality and production equipment and lab housekeeping.
12. Assist Quality Leadership in implementation of HACCP/Preventive Controls programs and GFSI audit support.
13. May be required to work more than 40 hours per week or adjust hours periodically as business needs require.
Requirements:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills, including Word & Excel.
Strong time management & multitasking abilities.
Minimum of a 2-year degree in food technology, culinary, food processing, food manufacturing, quality or equivalent certification or experience.
Excellent attention to detail.
Thinks creatively and innovatively with a solutions-oriented approach.
Walking through production rooms and warehouse, product sampling and some light to moderate lifting.
May need to bend, reach, squat, kneel, twist, push and pull and perform repetitive motions.
The ability to embrace change, work in team environment and can-do attitude a must.
Able to lift 30 pounds on occasion.
Ability to work successfully within a team and independently.
Experience preferred in Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing environment with knowledge of FDA, GFSI audit standards, Organic, and State regulations and requirements.
