Toxicology Laboratory Technician

ODX Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician for their Toxicology department. The Toxicology department specializes in screening and confirmatory urine and oral fluid drug testing. The Laboratory Technician would perform specimen preparation, testing, maintenance, trouble-shooting and data review.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or other physical science field. Preferred candidates will have clinical laboratory experience, as well as LC-MS/MS experience. Must be highly motivated and detail-oriented, demonstrate effective time-management skills, as well as have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

· Understand and follow proper laboratory safety protocols for handling chemicals and biological fluids, including wearing personal protective equipment.

· Adhere to HIPAA regulations concerning the confidentiality of patient information.

· Accession and aliquot urine and oral fluid patient samples following laboratory protocols.

· Become familiar with the laboratory information management system and enter patient demographics and testing orders without errors.

· Perform daily maintenance, and run calibrators, quality controls, and patient samples for urine drug screening on a clinical analyzer.

· Perform urine and oral fluid specimen preparation for LC-MS/MS analysis, following the relevant Standard Operating Procedures for each assay.

· Properly prepare reagents, such as mobile phases and buffers. Properly prepare calibrators, quality controls and internal standards.

· After proper training, maintain and operate the LC-MS/MS instrumentation with minimal supervision.

· After proper training, interpret quality control results and review chromatography on the LC-MS/MS, including patient results.

· Work well as a team with other laboratory staff and management.

· Inform supervisors of improper lab practices or errors.

· Perform any additional duties required of this position as new methods and procedures are developed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 – $28.00 per hour
