Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a detailed and efficient individual to join our Quality team. This role will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and reporting on the quality of our products in a manufacturing facility. A Quality Engineer works with a team to ensure that the products and processes meet the established quality standards by identifying shortfalls, developing corrective actions, and implementing systems for quality control while adhering to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is consistent, logical, a problem solver and can meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

Testing:

Inspect, monitor, and analyze products
Perform routine testing/inspections
Review current processes against standards
Perform Welding Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (Liquid Penetrant)

Continuous Improvement:

Implement systems to amend efficiency and quality of products
Lead continuous improvement while achieving competitive excellence within the organization
Direct the Material Review Board and Quality Clinic to drive corrective and preventive actions
Improve the effectiveness of the problem resolution process, i.e. response time, time-to-containment, time-to-resolution, effective communications, and efficient meeting management
Target business processes against best-in-class and drive the implementation of best practices
Support the Internal Auditor Process and act as an Internal Quality Auditor to support ISO certification

Communication:

Develop and utilize reports as appropriate to monitor supplier and in-house performance while ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are taken through drill-deep and drill-wide analysis
Participate in Daily Management and department meetings and share observations/findings
Collaborate with teams to ensure quality standards are met
Run weekly Quality Clinic meetings and preform root cause analysis to drive corrective actions

Documentation:

Complete and update problem reports to avoid future issues/malfunctions
Document any problems, defects, or deviations from standard procedures
Ensure Standard Work in house documentation is updated in SharePoint drive

Product Knowledge:

Stay up-to-date on the features and benefits of quality products and parts
Collaborate with colleagues to expand product knowledge

Training and Development:

Participate in training programs to improve quality skills and product knowledge
Attend monthly EHS trainings
Follow all policies and procedures (i.e. report on time and ready to work – Start/Lunch/Breaks)

Quality Control:

Manage quality assurance while supporting the ISO 9001, EHS- ISO 14001 & EHS-ISO 45001 certification requirements
Confirm employees are trained properly to avoid compliance issues
Preform quality checks are maintained by established quality procedures and ISO requirements

Safety Compliance:

Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors promptly

Cleanliness and Organization:

Maintain a clean and organized work area
Follow 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
0-3 years of experience as Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor, Quality Technician or similar experience
Proven track record of addressing quality issues with high visibility within a global organization
Understanding of effective quality systems and methodologies and their impact on both the internal and external business environments
Must be a self-starter able to work with minimal supervision and thrive in a fast paced environment
Exemplify strong leadership, collaborative, and communication abilities
Demonstrate strategic thinking in their initiatives and be a champion of innovative ideas
Have a strong understanding of the financial impact of poor quality in total cost terms
Knowledge of casting, precision machining, sheet metal, and finishing
Understanding and experience with use of various measurement devices including handheld gages, such as micrometers and calipers, optical comparators, and coordinate measurement machines

Preferences:

ASQ Certification, a plus
Electronics assembly, a plus
Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), a plus
Statistical Process Control knowledge, including experience with variable and attribute control charts
Proficient computer knowledge (i.e. log on credentials (SSO), JD Edwards, and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
