Reqiva is partnering with an innovative aerospace company developing a next-generation aircraft.
As the organisation scales its engineering, manufacturing and flight test capability in Queensland, we are seeking a Safety & Quality Engineer to help establish the systems, processes and culture that will support a growing aerospace operation.
This is a unique opportunity to join a clean-sheet programme and play a key role in shaping how safety, quality and engineering operations are managed from the ground up.
The Opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of Safety, Quality and Engineering Operations.
Working closely with engineers, technicians and leadership teams, you will help develop practical systems that support innovation whilst ensuring safety, quality and compliance standards are maintained.
You'll be supporting an environment that includes:
- Aerospace engineering workshops
- Aircraft assembly and integration
- Manufacturing operations
- Tooling and equipment management
- Prototype development
- Ground testing
- Flight test preparation
- Hangar operations
We are looking for someone who understands how to balance safety, quality and programme delivery within a fast-moving engineering environment.
This is not a highly bureaucratic corporate environment. The successful individual will be practical, collaborative and capable of helping teams solve problems whilst maintaining appropriate standards and controls.
Responsibilities
Safety
- Support the development and implementation of the organisation's safety framework.
- Conduct risk assessments relating to tooling, equipment and workshop activities.
- Develop safe work procedures and operational guidelines.
- Promote a positive and proactive safety culture across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
Quality
- Assist in establishing quality systems, procedures and operational controls.
- Support inspection, verification and acceptance processes.
- Manage non-conformance reporting and corrective actions.
- Develop practical quality documentation and work instructions.
- Help establish traceability and process control across manufacturing and assembly activities.
- Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Engineering & Operations Support
- Work closely with engineers and technicians during build, integration and testing activities.
- Participate in design and operational reviews.
- Identify safety and quality risks early and help implement practical solutions.
- Support the establishment of workshop and hangar operations.
About You
You may come from aerospace, aviation, defence, advanced manufacturing, industrial engineering or a similar technical environment.
Most importantly, you will be someone who enjoys working alongside engineers and technicians and can build credibility across the organisation.
You understand that strong safety and quality systems should enable engineering teams to succeed rather than create unnecessary barriers.
Desired Experience
- Safety, Quality, HSE or Compliance experience within a technical or engineering environment.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, assembly, workshop or production operations.
- Understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing practical controls.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to influence teams and drive positive behavioural change.
Highly Regarded
- Aerospace or aviation experience.
- Defence industry experience.
- Aircraft maintenance, MRO or hangar operations exposure.
- Manufacturing quality experience.
- AS9100, ISO9001 or ISO45001 exposure.
- Experience supporting prototype development or new product introduction.
- Start-up or scale-up experience.
