Opportunity
We are seeking Safety Assurance Consultants at Consultant, Senior, and Principal levels to join our growing rail and transit team in Canada. This is a broad and varied opportunity for individuals with experience in safety assurance across rail and transit systems, including (but not limited to) signalling, infrastructure, rolling stock, electrification, and operations & maintenance.
Successful candidates will support the delivery of safety assurance activities across the project lifecycle. This may include working on behalf of delivery organisations to produce safety assurance artefacts, or acting in an Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) capacity to ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and best practice.
The location is primarily Toronto, however flexibility may be required depending on project needs. Hybrid working arrangements, benefits, and office presence will vary depending on role and level. There will also be opportunities to contribute to projects across Canada as part of a growing team.
We are looking for passionate consultants who are keen to contribute to the growth of our safety assurance capability across Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of safety assurance strategies across rail and transit projects.
- Produce and/or review safety assurance deliverables, including Safety Plans, Safety Cases, Hazard Logs, and related documentation.
- Undertake hazard identification and risk assessment activities (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, risk workshops)
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Contribute to Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) or Independent Competent Person (ICP) activities, where applicable.
- Support system integration, testing, validation, and commissioning activities from a safety perspective.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Provide technical input and assurance across different subsystems and disciplines as required.

The Skills That Set You Apart
- Experience in rail and transit safety assurance across one or more disciplines (e.g. signalling, infrastructure, rolling stock, electrification, operations & maintenance)
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards and frameworks (e.g. CENELEC, CSM-RA, CMREA, IEC standards, or equivalent)
- Experience in Independent Safety Assessment (ISA), auditing, or compliance activities.
- Involvement in independent quality activities such as witnessing, trial running, testing, validation, or verification.
- Understanding of system safety lifecycle and hazard management processes.
- Experience working within the Canadian rail industry is advantageous but not essential.
Compensation
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $162,200 – $212,200
- MB & ON: $120,000-$160,000
- NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $146,500 – $194,600
