Roles &Responsibilities The role of the safety officeris to provide

safety awareness

and implementation of safetystandards in controlled zones.

Act as safetyofficer for selected location

Stop work Authority, and act for safetyviolations.

Inspection of permit to work forvalidity

Inspect Hot work areas forcompliance

Inform HSE department of safety issues/ Violation Check PPE ofEPCCheck tool and equipment for validinspections report all safety concerns to HSEdepartment Conducting Safety  Inspections:

Regularly inspecting theworkplace to identify hazards or unsafe conditions, such as faultyequipment or slipperyfloors.

Safety Training

:

Organizing and delivering safety trainingprograms to staff, ensuring everyone understands how to minimizerisks in the workplace.

Incident Investigation:

Investigating accidents ornear-misses, identifying root causes, and creating reports toprevent futureincidents.

Compliance with Regulations:

Ensuring the workplace is in compliancewith local, state, and federal safety laws and regulations (e.g.,OSHA standards).

Risk Assessment

:

Conducting assessments of potentialworkplace hazards, like chemicals, machinery, or environmentalfactors, and recommending mitigationstrategies.

Developing Safety Policies:

Creating and updating workplace safetyprocedures and emergency responseplans.

Safety Audits:

Regular audits of

safety protocols

,equipment, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance andimprovement.

Reporting and Documentation:

Maintaining records of safetyinspections, training sessions, and any incidents or accidents thatoccur.

Emergency Preparedness:

Ensuring emergency equipment (e.g.,fire extinguishers, first-aid kits) is readily available and inworking order. Planning and conducting emergency drills, like fireevacuations.  Desired candidate profile Knowledge of Safety Regulations:

Familiarity with safety regulationslike OSHA guidelines and the ability to interpretthem.

Attention to Detail

:

Ability to spot potential hazards andaddress them before they lead toaccidents.

Communication

:

Ability to clearly explain safety rules to employees, report issuesto management, and collaborate with differentteams.

Problem Solving

:

Quickly identifying safety issues andcoming up with solutions to preventaccidents.

Training and

Leadership

:

Leading by example

and effectivelytraining others to follow safetyprotocols.

Analytical

Skills:

Reviewing accidents and data to identifypatterns or areas forimprovement.

First Aid/CPR:

Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR incase ofemergencies.

Certifications:

Dependingon the industry, Safety Officers may need specific certificationsto perform their roles effectively, suchas:

OSHACertification:

Occupational Safety and Health Administrationcertification.

NEBOSH:
