Job Description
Position summary:
The Lab Specialty Technician is responsible for raw material Certificate of Analysis review, raw material sampling and testing, administration of Interface internal calibration system, and any other Quality Assurance functions at Kyle 1, Kyle2, and RCA labs.
Educational requirements:
High School diploma or GED required
Skills and experience:
Previous Quality Assurance experience preferred
Working knowledge of Quality Assurance test procedures preferred
Strong understanding of Interface production processes preferred
Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, MESr, and AS/400 preferred
Understanding of statistical process analysis preferred
Must have normal color perception and average or above average discernment
Must maintain workload with minimal supervision
General understanding of ISO requirements of job
Able to conduct intensive testing requiring multiple steps and accurate recordkeeping with minimal supervision
Essential duties:
Receive and maintain Certificates of Analysis for raw material critical suppliers
Maintain the Kyle QA Lab raw material testing program utilizing test equipment including: APA, Viscometer, Sieve analysis, and scales
Maintain testing for Federal Pill Test requirements
Collect various test samples for GSTC, package and label correctly at appropriate frequency
Complete various tests for production such as moisture, width, and thickness
Personally collect raw materials and other samples for testing to ensure proper test results and no contamination.
Maintain an understanding of all production processes at RCA and Kyle facilities
Conduct audits and analyze resulting data to generate meaningful trend charts
Complete Special Requests from internal and external sources as required
Communicate quality concerns to proper Manufacturing and Quality Management as needed
Maintain ISO required internal calibration and related record keeping. Includes calibration responsibility at multiple facilities, use of specific calibration software, and coordinating external calibration requirements
Be aware of MSDS of chemicals and mixtures handled in the lab
Comply with all departmental and plant wide safety rules
Comply with all applicable environmental regulations
Comply with all departmental and plant wide ISO requirements—9001 and 14001
Conduct internal ISO 9001 & 14001 audits for Troup County
Conduct ISO 9001 & 14001 training as needed
Ensure ISO procedures are followed.
Maintain accurate recordkeeping and record archive
Maintain Kyle QA Lab and general facility housekeeping standards
Understand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.
Perform other duties as assigned
Over time may be mandatory at times due to last minute test requests, Lab Technician shortage, and weekend scheduling.
Physical demands:
Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Wearing PPE as required
