Veteran Design & Construction, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control/Safety Officer for a position located in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Quality Control (QC) Officer will manage and perform all QC and Safety responsibilities according to the project contract. The Quality Control/Safety Officer is responsible for the overall management of quality control and safety and has the authority to act in all quality control/safety matters for VDCI.
Typical duties and responsibilities for the Quality Control/Safety Officer include:
Attend the Partnering Meetings, Coordination and Mutual Understanding Meeting, and QC Plan Meetings.
Conduct the QC Meetings.
Manage and coordinate the three phases of control.
Manage and coordinate documentation performed by testing laboratory personnel and any other inspection and testing personnel.
Perform submittal review and approval.
Ensure testing is performed.
Provide QC certifications and documentation required in the contract.
Ensure adherence to all applicable OSHA standards, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures on the construction site.
Conduct specialized formal courses related to high hazard work operations such as asbestos, electrical, cranes, demolition, work at heights/fall protection, fire safety/life safety, ladder safety, rigging, scaffolds, and trenches/excavations.
Ensure that all Construction Personnel (CPs) engaged in high hazard work operations have completed the required specialized formal courses.
Maintain comprehensive records of safety training, incidents, and corrective actions.
Prepare regular safety reports for project management and regulatory agencies.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Collaborate with project management to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Specific qualifications for the Quality Control Officer role include:
Minimum of 5 years combined experience in the following positions: Project Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, Safety Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager.
Experience in hazard identification, safety compliance, and sustainability.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
OSHA 30-hour construction safety training within the last five (5) years.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task.
Proficiency in use of a personal computer and software programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. This position will require a government background check with getting badged.
