As a Lead Inspector in aviation is responsible for overseeing a team of inspectors, ensuring all maintenance and repair work on aircraft is performed to the highest safety standards, adhering to FAA regulations, and ultimately determining the airworthiness of an aircraft by conducting thorough inspections, reviewing technical records, and identifying any discrepancies that could affect safety; they often lead the process of releasing an aircraft back to service after maintenance activities.
Key responsibilities:
Supervising inspection teams: Leading and directing a team of inspectors, assigning tasks, and
ensuring proper execution of inspections.
Determination: Making the final call on whether an engine is ruled as acceptable or not based on
inspection findings and compliance with regulations.
Quality control: Reviewing maintenance records, verifying proper documentation, and ensuring
compliance with quality control procedures.
Technical expertise: Possessing in-depth knowledge of engines maintenance procedures as per
manual references and regulations.
Identifying and reporting discrepancies: Documenting any defects or non-compliant issues
discovered during inspections and initiating corrective actions.
Technical problem-solving: Analyzing complex maintenance issues, determining root causes, and
recommending appropriate repair solutions.
Training and mentoring: Providing guidance and training to less experienced inspectors on proper
inspection techniques and procedures.
Compliance with regulations: Staying updated on all applicable FAA regulations and ensuring
adherence to safety standards.
Qualifications for a Lead Inspector:
A&P Mechanic Certification: A valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
Knowledgeable of SB’s/ AD’s and Module Configuration Sheets on CFM and CF6.
Extensive experience in aircraft engine maintenance: Significant hands-on experience performing
aircraft maintenance and inspections.
Strong understanding of FAA and Manual References- Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation
Regulations (FARs) related to the type of engine.
Leadership skills: Ability to effectively lead and manage a team of inspectors.
Attention to detail: Excellent observation skills and ability to identify even minor discrepancies.
Communication skills: Clear and concise communication to effectively report findings and
collaborate with other maintenance personnel.

Pay: $36.00 – $56.00 per hour
