Retail Systems helps our retail business grow profitably by providing automation and tools for increasing selection, lowering prices optimally, managing in stock and getting the best terms from our vendors. The pricing operations and analytics team within Retail Systems manages pricing decisions for millions of items sold by Amazon worldwide. This team is based in our India development center and has complete business and functional ownership.

Job Description
The operations leader role is a critical role within Retail System focused on expanding Amazon’s leadership position in price competitiveness. It will be based in Chennai and reports to the senior operations leader. Every year, selection addition to the Amazon catalog (Earth’s largest selection) coupled with changing competitive dynamics in the market segment puts the onus on this leader to find scalable and efficient processes to stay competitive. You will work with various business and technology teams world-wide in developing operational processes, and driving alignment to deliver business outcomes. As part of the leadership team, you will work on developing the pricing algorithms and strategies. You will drive timely, accurate and efficient processes to ensure Amazon’s price competitiveness though relentless process improvements. You will manage program managers, operations managers, as well as a large operations staff and will regularly interact with Senior Leadership at the category leadership and director level.

Ideal candidate Profile:

  • A successful candidate will have an established background in successfully managing critical and complex business processes, excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with a fast paced environment.
  • You must be very comfortable defining, developing and using metrics to drive the vision and manage the business.
  • The candidate will have a demonstrated record of team building and execution in a high volume operational environment and be able to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains. This requires a person that is very metrics driven, and a vision to scale the business.
  • The candidate must have a proven track record of partnering with technology teams and leveraging automation to drive efficiencies in operational processes. The candidate must have a proven track record in hiring and developing leaders.
