Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Control Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our control systems within a manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong understanding of quality inspection processes, and the ability to work with precision measuring instruments. The Quality Control Specialist will examine manufactured parts/components and finished goods to ensure compliance with all contract specifications and quality program requirements according to Company and ISO standards. The Specialist receives specific knowledge of what products/dates will be released and ensures they are inspected and released on that due date. Although their work is subject to additional inspection, the Specialist generally conducts the final check on incoming items, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods. As such, the Specialist has the authority to quarantine or stop the manufacture or shipment of nonconforming materials, parts or finished pieces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:
Quality Specialist is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Final Section in Operations.
Role is to identify any non-conforming items in the Final Section which pertains to completed, in-process, and ship loose parts.
Supervises quality team members assigned to the Final Section in work priorities, identifying quality issues, following procedures and work orders on a daily basis.
Works directly with Operations management to understand priorities needed daily to assure units are being inspected and released to achieve business needs.
Works with Quality Lead and Quality Manager to perform Root Cause analysis on non-conforming issues found at the Final Section.
Use of prints and diagrams of units to assure all units have correct components, all units are secure and tightened before shipping out from IEA.
Make sure all photos are taken by Operations prior to releasing a unit for shipment.
Adheres to ISO quality procedures.
Must be capable of performing 100% dimensional inspections.
Performs In Process, and Final Inspections
Strong background ability to read and understand complex machining drawings and CAD Models.
Use precision inspection measuring devices.
Communicate with customer / vendor quality and engineering to achieve print compliant parts and components.
Reviews work orders (written or verbal) and determines specific inspection requirements/needs.
Identifies, quarantines and documents non-conforming parts or materials detected during in process or final inspection activities.
Verifies and identifies (tags) on in process or finished products for inventory purposes.
Prepares and processes inspection documents (packets, radiator id tags, etc.) for IEA products.
Conducts final inspection or audit of IEA finished goods and ship-loose components to ensure conformance with order.
Maintains all inspection records relating to individual inspection activities.
Makes recommendations to IEA Management for ordering, product or other changes in accordance with Company and customer requirements and specifications.
Coordinates inspection activities with other IEA Production activities.
Cleans and maintains all assigned areas and equipment.
Works in a safe manner.
Physical Demands:
Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 75 (infrequently), 50 (occasionally), 25 (frequently).
Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 150 (with assistance).
Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting upper body, or climbing.
Working at heights off the ground up to 25 feet.
Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
Work Environment:
Work location(s): Metal fabrication/assembly shop; plant grounds; shop office with computer.
Exposure to: Fumes, airborne particles, wet/humid (non-weather) conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts/equipment, inclement weather conditions.
Personal protective equipment requirement: Safety glasses, safety shoes. Safety gloves and ear protection as necessary. Additional equipment per location requirements.
Position Requirements:
Key skills, abilities, and knowledge:
Ability to read and understand job requirements and material specifications, shipping/receiving documents, shop drawings, and blueprints.
Working knowledge of Excel and using an ERP system.
Working knowledge of properties and composition of radiator materials, structural metals and related components (OJT).
Working knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
Ability to communicate (oral/written) and work effectively with others.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with other IEA employees in the performance of inspection duties.
Ability to plan and organize work and conduct inspection activities on a thorough and consistent basis.
Working knowledge of radiator manufacturing—parts, materials and methods.
Skill in using and maintaining appropriate inspection tools and equipment including Tape measure, calipers, and other various gages.
Experience: Two or more years of Quality Control or related manufacturing experience.
Certificates, Licenses, etc.: Forklift operator certification is desirable.
