Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for executing test plans, performing both manual and automated testing, developing and managing test cases, and ensuring software quality through rigorous testing processes. You'll play an essential role in identifying and resolving issues, collaborating with development teams, and contributing to the overall improvement of system performance and reliability.
1. Manual QA & Process Ownership
Requirement Analysis & Test Planning:
- Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely, impactful feedback and assist with issue analysis.
- Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans, test cases, and test scenarios, leveraging domain knowledge to enhance test coverage and effectiveness.
Test Execution & Defect Tracking:
- Execute manual test cases and scenarios to validate software functionality, usability, performance, and reliability across web and mobile platforms.
- Perform functional, non-functional, and regression testing.
- Identify, isolate, and document software defects clearly and efficiently, using story management tools like Jira
- Prepare test summary reports for features built within your team.
Documentation & QA Best Practices:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date test documentation (test cases, test results, and defect reports) to support effective communication and knowledge sharing.
- Monitor, drive, and adopt QA best practices, contributing to the continuous improvement of QA processes and methodologies.
- Operate as the primary point of contact for all QA aspects, escalating all matters related to testing and quality assurance when necessary.
2. Automation QA & Technical Testing
Framework Design & Script Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks using Selenium and Appium
- Develop, write, and maintain automated test scripts for both frontend and backend components using languages such as JavaScript or Java.
API, Performance & Infrastructure Testing:
- Conduct comprehensive API testing using modern tools and frameworks, ensuring both functional integrity and performance.
- Work with API/unit testing frameworks and performance testing tools like K6 or Locust.
- Utilize cross-browser and cloud testing tools like BrowserStack for tracking, documentation, and reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in automation efficiency, code reliability, and test coverage to optimize development cycles.
3. Shared Responsibilities & Team Growth
- Agile Collaboration:Pa rticipate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, collaborating with engineers, product owners (POs/PMs), and designers to identify, track, and resolve defects while promoting a culture of quality, accountability, and innovation.
- Mentorship & Guidance: Provide guidance and support to junior QA engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to help develop the team's overall capability.
- Adaptability: Perform additional tasks and roles as the company requires to meet evolving project demands and strategic company goals.
Qualifications
1. Must-Haves
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with a proven track record of handling both manual and automation testing (Hybrid role).
- Manual QA Skills: Strong experience in writing detailed test plans, test cases, and test scenarios. Deep understanding of QA methodologies, defect lifecycles, and functional/regression testing.
- Automation Testing: Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch using Selenium (for Web) and Appium (for Mobile).
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in either Java or JavaScript for writing robust automation scripts.
- API Testing: Strong experience in functional and integration testing for APIs using modern tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured, or equivalent).
- Tools & Platforms: Proficient in using Jira for bug tracking/story management and BrowserStack (or similar cloud testing platforms) for cross-browser testing.
- Methodology: Strong experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and participating in development lifecycle ceremonies.
- Language: Good English communication skills (both written and verbal) for professional reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
2. Nice-to-Haves
- Performance Testing: Experience with performance and load testing tools such as K6 or Locust.
- CI/CD Pipeline: Familiarity with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) to trigger automated test suites.
- Leadership/Mentorship: Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading junior QA engineers.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
