Program Overview & Role
NASA’s Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC) is a sub-orbital space flight program at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), supporting Earth, Heliophysics, and Astrophysics science. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer may supervise team members and act as a project lead.
Responsibilities:
Provide auditing support to ISO and occupational safety programs.
Support Sounding Rocket mission hazardous operations as a NASA Certified Operational Safety Specialist (OSS).
Ensure quality control procedures evaluate products effectively.
Assess and improve current methods for meeting reliability standards.
Develop and maintain quality evaluation and control systems.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to uphold quality standards.
Design and analyze inspection and testing processes; conduct statistical quality assessments.
Audit quality systems and implement corrective actions.
Specialize in design, incoming materials, production control, or research as applicable.
Possibly certified in lean and six-sigma methodologies.
Recommend modifications to optimize quality standards.
Travel may be required for extended periods.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or high school diploma with 9+ years.
Knowledge of inspection, testing, and evaluation standards for electronic/mechanical components.
Understanding of electronics acceptance testing and launch vehicle inspection procedures.
Technical writing and problem-solving skills.
Experience with ISO 9001:2015.
US citizenship, ability to obtain NASA PIV badge, pass background and drug screening.
Desired:
Experience with rocket ordnance.
Experience on NASA programs.
Additional Details:
Salary range: $80,000 – $128,000, based on experience.
