Responsibilities:
- Serve as the highest authority for Quality and Regulatory Compliance within the organization.
- Approve or reject raw materials, in-process materials, bulk products, and finished goods, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Exercise authority to halt production, quarantine materials, or suspend product releases as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, cGMP, GLP, GDP, and all applicable cosmetic and OTC manufacturing requirements.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) including quality policies, procedures, and specifications.
- Review and approve SOPs, change controls, deviations, investigations, and CAPAs; lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Lead customer, FDA, and regulatory agency inspections, maintaining inspection readiness and resolving audit observations.
- Qualify and monitor raw material suppliers, packaging suppliers, and third-party laboratories; oversee process and analytical method validation.
- Lead and develop Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Analyze quality metrics and trends to identify risks and drive operational performance improvement initiatives.
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, or closely related scientific discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive quality leadership within the beauty, cosmetics, or personal care manufacturing industry.
- Extensive experience in both color cosmetics and skincare manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, cosmetic regulations, OTC manufacturing requirements, cGMP, GLP, GDP, and Quality Management Systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading customer, FDA, and regulatory inspections, and managing inspection readiness.
- Proven track record managing CAPA systems, investigations, change control, supplier qualification, validation, and risk management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience working in a contract manufacturing organization (CMO/CDMO) environment.
- Expertise with quality and regulatory compliance in OTC and cosmetic manufacturing.
- Advanced skills in internal audits, FDA and regulatory inspections, and rapid resolution of audit observations.
- Familiarity with analytical method validation, process validation, and product release management.
- Background in continuous improvement methodologies and operational excellence initiatives.
- Ability to mentor, recruit, and evaluate department personnel and drive cross-functional collaboration.
