Overview:
This role involves managing and optimizing a testing lab environment to support software and network testing activities. The individual will handle lab configuration, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting while collaborating with various teams to coordinate testing schedules. The position also includes performing network and software tests to identify issues, assess performance, and ensure security. This person will work closely with development teams to confirm fixes and contribute to continuous improvements in the testing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and configure the testing lab to ensure optimal operation and readiness for testing.
Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, software, and systems to meet testing demands.
Establish and implement procedures for lab management, resource allocation, and test environment control.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to organize and prioritize testing activities.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in lab management and testing procedures.
Conduct a range of software tests, including functional, regression, and performance testing, to identify and document defects and areas needing improvement.
Perform network tests to evaluate the performance, security, and reliability of network systems.
Work closely with development teams to replicate issues, verify fixes, and provide input on software quality.
Support the enhancement of testing processes and tools, contributing to a more efficient QA environment.
Document testing results, configurations, and processes, and regularly report on lab and testing activities.
Develop, review, and execute test cases based on product requirements to ensure comprehensive testing.
Analyze requirements with product managers, developers, and QA engineers to design test plans accordingly.
Perform manual testing on various platforms to identify bugs, usability concerns, and ensure product quality.
Track, report, and validate defects in a tracking system, ensuring resolution before product release.
Run regression tests to ensure that updates haven’t negatively impacted existing functionalities.
Keep detailed documentation of test cases, results, and defects.
Conduct basic network-related tests, such as checking connectivity, IP configurations, and network performance.
Participate in team meetings to discuss strategies and improve testing processes.
Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues and offer feedback on product design and implementation.
Provide technical documentation, know-how, and training to support other teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Certification in network technologies (e.g., CCNA).
Experience with large-scale network systems (e.g., DHCP, RADIUS, TCP, UDP).
Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix, PRTG, SNMP).
Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, and security technologies.
Highly motivated with great attention to detail.
Significant experience in software testing or a similar role.
Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., TestRail).
Strong communication skills.
Experience with Agile and regression testing.
Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages.
Familiarity with wireless technologies and devices (e.g., controllers, access points, Cisco, Meraki, Aruba).
