JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Assistant Air Quality Manager supports indoor air quality control and community education efforts across Adams 14 School District in partnership with the University of Colorado and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This role promotes real-time transparency and public understanding of indoor environmental conditions using bilingual school dashboards and classroom displays. The assistant is responsible for supporting the deployment and maintenance of HEPA portable air cleaners (PACs), environmental monitoring devices, and instructional materials to enhance air quality awareness and student engagement.
This position plays a vital role in maintaining safe and healthy learning environments, empowering students and staff with knowledge about indoor air conditions, and ensuring consistent communication with school communities. The assistant will also support community-facing displays and student-led initiatives that highlight environmental literacy and air quality data.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Level Details
Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering.
License / Certification Required
Colorado Substitute Authorization or Colorado Teaching License
Valid Colorado Driver’s License
Work Experience Required
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children in an educational or structured setting and/or experience in K-12 outreach and education.
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Experience with Adams 14 systems or air quality initiatives strongly preferred
Detail-oriented with excellent organization and follow-through
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Familiarity with HEPA filtration, air quality monitoring systems, and classroom environmental controls
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in school settings
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provision of Adams County School District Board Policy, GCOA-Evaluation of Instructional Staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities
Install portable air cleaners (HEPA PACs) in classrooms across 13 district schools
Record and categorize room heat stress and air quality profiles
Support maintenance tracking and operation documentation for PAC systems
Conduct teacher surveys to evaluate PAC usage and develop responsive plans
Environmental Monitoring Deployment
Assist in identifying classrooms for IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) monitors
Install and test IAQ sensors to expand monitoring coverage to at least 25% of classrooms
Coordinate real-time data visualization on classroom or lobby dashboards
Action Planning and Integration
Collaborate on the development of a districtwide air quality action plan
Support implementation of thresholds, intervention triggers, and school-level integration
Benchmark policies against other agencies and incorporate into operations
Education & Engagement
Deliver bilingual air quality lessons for 5th–12th grade students in partnership with teachers
Support students in developing air quality presentations for display
Promote participation in air quality campaigns and classroom discussions
Community Dashboard Deployment
Assist with dashboard interface design and translation
Install and activate school lobby displays and classroom monitors
Help ensure timely and accurate visualizations of IAQ metrics

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a usual office or school environment. The Employee may be required to work from a remote location in the event of a district shut-down or other event.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate.

Compensation for this position is $28 per hour for a maximum of 32 hours per week (2025-2026), based on verified experience and qualifications, and aligned with the Adams 14 salary schedule. This position is scheduled for up to 260 work days annually. Additional compensation opportunities may be available through stipends or supplemental assignments, depending on job responsibilities.
