Job Title: Quality Engineer
General Function: The Quality Engineer will ensure that our manufacturing processes meet the highest quality standards and that our products meet or exceed customer expectations. The Quality Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain, to identify and resolve quality-related issues throughout production.
Job Duties:
Develop and implement quality control procedures and processes to ensure product conformity and consistency.
Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Analyze production data and perform statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Investigate and resolve customer concerns about product quality, working closely with the customer service team to ensure timely resolution.
Develop and maintain quality documentation, including standard operating procedures, JIBs, flow charts, visual aids, policies and procedures, work instructions, and quality control reports.
Train manufacturing personnel on quality control procedures and provide ongoing support and guidance.
Lead facility in maintaining QMS Certification in ISO 9001
Gather and analyze scrap data and provide recommendations for scrap reduction
Review and make recommendations for gauging and inspection systems
Ensure gauge calibrations and reference standards are current
Schedule and coordinate MSA studies for gauging systems
Review and recommend efficiency improvements of Quality Systems for data handling and use, automation of processes, software and reporting, programming, and gauge and inspection fixture design.
Compiles weekly and monthly KPI reporting for Management Review meetings
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the organization.
Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature.
Must sit and view a computer screen for extended periods.
Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk and stand for extended periods.
Must lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds when necessary.
Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and frequently climb (stairs).
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be flexible and able to change schedule and work hours to meet the organization’s needs.
Education, Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field. Certification in quality engineering (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer) is a plus, or at least five years of experience as a Quality Engineer or a similar role within a metal-working manufacturing environment.
Detailed understanding of ISO 9001:2015 requirements. Qualified internal or lead auditor certified to ISO 9001:2015 preferred.
Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies, tools, and techniques (APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEA, and SPC).
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and operations.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and data-driven problem-solving.
Proficient in CMM operations, reporting, precision measuring tools, and gages.
Excellent knowledge of GD&T, layout techniques, calibration, and blueprint reading.
