Shop Manager – Manufacturing & Quality Control

Location: South Houston, TX

Full-Time | On-Site

Jaguar Texas Valves & Instruments is seeking a highly organized, technically capable Shop Manager – Manufacturing & Quality Control to oversee the day-to-day operation of our South Houston facility. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for ensuring that incoming materials are properly received and inspected, inventory remains organized and accurate, technicians have the correct parts and priorities to complete customer orders, and every outgoing order meets our quality and documentation standards. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, pays close attention to detail, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all shipping and receiving activities for the shop.
  • Receive incoming materials and verify part numbers, quantities, condition, and documentation against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Ensure incoming components are properly inspected and tested when required before being released into inventory or production.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient warehouse, inventory, and production area.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory counts and quickly identify shortages or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, sales, and management regarding missing, damaged, incorrect, or backordered materials.
  • Review open customer orders and line out technicians with the correct parts, components, and priorities needed to complete each job.
  • Monitor work in progress and help keep customer orders moving through assembly and testing.
  • Perform or oversee quality-control inspections throughout the receiving, assembly, testing, and shipping process.
  • Verify completed products meet applicable specifications and customer requirements before shipment.
  • Ensure required testing records, certificates, documentation, and photographs are completed and retained for outgoing orders.
  • Confirm products are properly packaged and protected for shipment.
  • Operate a forklift as needed for receiving, inventory movement, and shipping activities.
  • Help develop and enforce processes that improve organization, traceability, quality, and efficiency throughout the shop.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and productive work environment.
  • Communicate production issues, quality concerns, inventory shortages, and potential shipment delays to management before they become larger problems.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, instrumentation, valve, mechanical, machining, assembly, warehouse, or similar technical environment is strongly preferred.
  • Sufficient mechanical and technical aptitude to understand how industrial products are assembled, tested, operated, and inspected.
  • Ability to read and understand part numbers, bills of material, assembly instructions, purchase orders, work orders, drawings, and product documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when dealing with quality control, quantities, documentation, and customer orders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable directing technicians and establishing daily work priorities.
  • Able to identify problems and take initiative to resolve them rather than waiting for direction.
  • Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, inventory systems, and business software.
  • Reliable, accountable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift or be willing and able to learn forklift operation.

  • Oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratory, or process instrumentation equipment

Candidates do not need to already know every product we manufacture and sell. However, they must have the mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn our products well enough to understand how they function, how they are assembled, what components belong together, and how finished products should be inspected and tested.
